  1. I didn't like the Rea signing last year, but I have come around to the position that this move is fine. He is an affordable depth piece, and buying an extra year of flexibility isn't a bad move. If he has a solid year in 2026, he will be a cheap option again in 2027. If he starts to decline, then cut bait and move on to someone else after 2026. Not an exciting move, but it is fine.
  2. Give it to Jeter.
  3. If they make the QO, then what happens? Would it net them another pick if he rejects it? And would he reject it?
  4. Meatbally or not, I'm legitimately interested in seeing what Tyson Bagent could do with this offense.
  5. As if they wouldn't somehow be grandfathered in with a number of years to get down to the cap number. If a salary cap is implemented, it's not going to be immediately significantly punitive for the big spending teams.
  6. The Bears probably aren't going to move on from Cairo Santos at this point, but they really should. I know kickers generally kick for a long time in the NFL, but Santos is about to turn 34 and his leg isn't going to get any stronger as he ages. There is risk in making that move. Maybe Moody implodes and shows why he didn't make it in San Francisco. But there is also upside that just doesn't exist in Cairo Santos, and it's time to roll the dice on that upside.
  7. Did anyone see this article? https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25261796-dodgers-reportedly-earned-entirety-shohei-ohtanis-700m-contract-1st-season Basically, the Dodgers have already essentially recouped the entire $700M from Ohtani's deal. So not only do they have the unicorn TV deal, but they are going to be rolling in the Ohtani cash year after year.
  8. There is no team in baseball that shouldn't have been willing to pay him AT LEAST what the Dodgers did.
  9. This Dodgers performance is impressive, yet completely unsurprising. Good luck Jed getting past these guys in the future with your "pretty good" team.
  10. He has value, and more value coming off a career year than he would have had otherwise. Not expecting a haul, but he could bring a useful piece back.
  11. I don't know what your metric of choice is for defense, but: DRS: Hoerner 17, Turang 7 OAA: Hoerner 14, Turang -2 FRV: Hoerner 12, Turang 0 Turang had a pretty average season defensively, and him winning the gold glove over Hoerner would be downright criminal.
  12. As much as I dislike the Dodgers, I love how they are showing that quality starting pitchers can still pitch deep into playoff games.
  13. As long as the Cubs don't expect any lingering injury issues for Amaya, I still think the right move is to trade Kelly. Amaya can start a majority of games, with Mcguire serving as an occasional backup. Ballasteros spends most of his time at DH, but also gets worked in at Catcher on a semi-regular basis. I think Ballasteros needs to get a chance to catch, at least occasionally, and he isn't going to get that if both Amaya and Kelly are on the roster. And if he shows that he really can't handle it, Mcguire is a serviceable enough backup.
  14. That doesn't really change the calculus here. Either one of those guys is a massive overpay.
  15. His 2026 option is $20M. There is a chance he exceeds that contract, but no way would I give up anything more than complete minor league roster filler for him.
  16. Do we have a date/time yet for Jed's end of season press conference?
  17. How does the Moody contract work exactly? If Santos is healthy and Moody is sent back to the practice squad, can he be snatched up by another team that is looking for a kicker on their active roster?
  18. Say what you will about Cairo Santos, this kick is automatic for him. For Moody..... ehhhhhhhh???
  19. No, don't leave it up to Moody. Throw the ball.
  20. Gotta kill all the clock here.
  21. How confident is everyone in a long Jake Moody FG?
  22. Bears aren't getting the ball back unless it's down 9.
