  1. People complain about Brady, but I think he's been fine today.
  2. Despite the missed call, credit to Homer for fighting back close to the line of scrimmage to remain at the edge of field goal range. Those extra 4-5 yards were a big deal.
  3. Gotta say Santos is having a nice day so far. The field goal was a gimme, so no big deal there, but his kickoffs have been pretty good too. I like how he has been angling the kicks towards the sideline (without going out of bounds).
  4. That was helmet right into Kmet's helmet. I'm sure the Vikings guy is concussed, but shouldn't that also be a personal foul?
  5. A little bit of a mix-and-match. Tomi is a starter, so that's one missing from last night. Then you have Petrovic and Brandon Lee, either one who MIGHT start over Wagler, but that may change now. I think the plan was for Lee to be the starter prior to his injury, but Wagler's performance may change that. And then Rodgers I would say is purely a bench guy. There are legitimately at least 10 guys though who could see significant minutes on a nightly basis, and a few more players beyond that who could contribute in spots. If everyone is healthy, it's going to be really hard to keep everyone happy.
  6. In no world can that be a flagrant foul call. I can't find a video, but it was as harmless a foul as there is. Illinois may have got the better end of the calls up until that point, but that doesn't justify the refs inserting themselves into the game at a critical moment on what was truly a basic common foul. If Illinois can get fully healthy at any point during the season, they are going to be scary deep. They are currently missing 2 starters and 2 rotational bench players and still look like a Top 10 team in the country. I just don't know where the minutes are going to come from to get all these guys on the court.
  7. While that may be true, I wouldn't necessarily say they are in a good position on the hitting side after losing their top offensive player (or at least the guy with the pedigree to be their top offensive player) from a lineup that was already prone to extremely inconsistent results. There is no reason the Cubs can't address BOTH the offense and pitching staff, but Hoyer is already setting the stage for an underwhelming offseason approach.
  8. It seems the Transactions forum has gone missing. It was probably long overdue, as there was no consistency to what would get posted there versus the Cubs forum versus General baseball discussions. So long old friend.
  9. Easily one of my Top 10 favorite Cubs of all time, possibly even Top 5.
  10. Greg Olsen stopped short of suggesting that possibility on the broadcast, but he sure seemed to be hinting at it.
  11. Is Loveland the only guy we can trust to catch the ball now?
  12. Hard to tell without a replay, but was that another catchable ball?
  13. Why would they decline the penalty? Wouldn't that have given them a first down?
  14. Unbelievable. 42 yards on a 3rd down play which looked like it was dead behind the line of scrimmage.
  15. I didn't see the hold there.
  16. Bailed out big time with the turnover.
  17. These are catches that NFL receivers have to make. Caleb deserves way better today.
  18. Secondary is getting carved up.
  19. Not sure it would have mattered though. He was going to get tackled short.
  20. He's "just jumping over him"? Well, yes, but it's still contact to the helmet. So why is it different?
  21. Caleb got kicked in the helmet on a slide and no flag?
  22. Nah. That was an incredible play by Brisker.
  23. Fernando Tatis Jr. wins the Platinum Glove. I guess we can stop caring about Platinum Gloves, since they are clearly not a serious award.
  24. Who will be next year's version of the overpriced, washed up veteran hitter that we want to DFA by May?
  25. I watched the first 2 periods and then turned the game off. That was a bad choice.
