  1. Yes. Because having the best record in the NL only hurts the team. Please give it up already. If Soriano hadn't missed two weeks, he might be the team leader in just about every offensive category except OBP and AVG. He is just fine in the lead of spot. (Please note that the Cubs are STILL #1 in the run scoring department with your buddy hitting lead off). Now if we could just get Theriot out of the top half of the order, maybe Lee and Ramirez could have more RBI opportunities.
  2. Wow. How sad. I was really cheering for him on his comeback attempt.
  3. I'm hoping not to have to use the term "Gascanio" anytime soon.

    Week 9

Dishman's Dishmans (2-6) at Voo Doo Bayou Bashers (3-5) Alamo Stealth (4-4) at NC Cubs (5-3) Lynx (4-4) at Draconian Empire (4-4) The Eyes of Texas (5-3) at Buddiga (3-5) Tootielicious (4-4) at Quakers (5-3) Fuzzy Logistics (5-3) at Harrys Budcrew (4-4) Raw Dawgs (6-2) at Severe Tooterstorms (3-5) Galesburg Hand Sanitizers (3-5) at Northside Baseball (4-4) Matchup Of The Week: GHS vs. NSBB While the rest of the league cherishes in Adam's profanity laced tirades, this match up has become a historic rivalry, even if both teams are not living up to the standards they've set the past few years. Johan Santana's two starts this week will be tough for GHS to overcome. But, Ryan Dempster will be facing a rather weak and injured looking Colorado team in his two start week, so Dempster has a chance to match Santana's output.

I've seen official scorekeeping changes get made after a game and that can affect the score later on.
  6. This one is easily explainable. Harang went to school at Patrick Henry High, which is where my stepsons go to school. Patrick Henry is home of the Patriots, which has a very similar logo as the New England Patriots. Looking back at the Patriots sign, it looks like it might say Patrick Henry in small letters in the lower left corner of the sign, but I can't tell for sure on my computer. Aaron Harang's dad coached one of my stepsons in little league a few years back when Aaron was first breaking into the bigs with Oakland. If I had to guess, Aaron's dad (Mike) probably since traded in his Oakland A's cap in for a Reds cap.

Yay. For whatever reason, the target is on my forehead. Yes, my team leads the league in scoring. But, I'm on my way to a 5-3 mark because teams like to have their best scoring week ever when they face Fuzzy Logistics. Gotta give props to Tootielicious' pitching staff this week: 41, 39, 35, 29.5, 28, 17, 12.5, 8 and another start left today.
  8. I think Houston should allow fans to bring their picnic baskets and park their butts in the grassy knoll, giving the CF even more obstacles.

Reset my modum and router this morning and I'm back in. Weird.

For whatever reason, I can't access Roadkill at all. I've tried from all 3 computers on this network. I had Live Scoring open, and I hit refresh because it looked like it was locked up, and it just vanished off my computer. I've deleted cookies, history, temporary internet files, ran Spybot, rebooted a few times, closed out of my virus protection and firewall. Nothing. I've typed in cbs sportsline in my Yahoo and google browsers. I've typed in roadkill in my IE address bar, and I've clicked on go for any and all roadkill pages that come up in its history, including player pages. I've deleted any favorite links for Roadkill, and all I get with any of them is "page cannot be displayed". Every other link on my computer works just fine. What really baffles me is that I can't access the site on either of the other two computers, either, and I don't ever try to access that site from any computer but the one I'm currently typing on. I have to leave now. Anyone with any ideas? The last time this happened to me, I was able to access some obscure page on sportsline and I was able to link back in through that page. I can't seem to find a page to do that with this time.

Did Roadkill go down for anyone else?
  12. I don't know. Matt Vasgersian and Mark Grant are one of the best broadcast teams I've listened to. Vasgersian is a walking baseball encyclopedia. What I find rather amusing is that Mark Grant and Duane Kuiper (Giants) sound absolutely identical on tv. I wonder how much this ever comes up. If they ever did a game together, you could swear that there was just one guy talking to himself in the booth.
  13. I find it hard to listen to the opposing team broadcast. there are so many duos out there that are brutally awful While I agree that there are a lot of awful broadcasters out there, I still like hearing what opposing teams have to say. I noticed Mark Grace was being rather homerish towards the Cubs on the Fox game of the week against Arizona. For those that don't know, Grace is a broadcaster for D'Back games. Sounded to me like he was applying for any future openings in the Cubs booth. Anyway, I've watched a lot of Arizona broadcasts. Grace has become quite tolerable announcing games.
  14. I liked what Boston did there. In any other circumstance, he is out of the game. It appeared to me that the only way he stayed in that game was if he didn't give up a hit. It's a tough decision for a manager to make, but it's the right one, IMO. And I'm sorry, but color me a whacko for preferring that they switch coverage to a game with some meaningful history. If I recall correctly, the Cub game had the same score before and after the Boston no hitter coverage started.
  15. Yes. Anything to find regular jobs for guys like Jose Macias, Neifi Perez and Lenny Harris.
  16. I usually just tune into whichever broadcast is being carried on the MLB EI package. I get to listen to a lot of the opposing team's broadcasters, which can be fun to listen to them talk about the Cubs.
  17. Too many posts about Jim Edmonds. Let us all reflect on the greatness that is Geovany Soto!
  18. I believe Kent Mercker and Denny Neagle were part of that rotation at one time, as well.

    Week 8

My team is averaging 300 points a week, but just barely. I just read on Rotoworld that Halladay worked in relief yesterday, costing him his two start week. Lucky for me, I suppose. My only 2 start pitcher this week has been on a tear lately. Mr. James Shields! Alfonso Soriano's big week made Ryan Braun's week look rather average, but I'll take that kind of average week every week. Especially when the Brewers end up getting swept. \:D/ Rickie Weeks can stop hitting below .200 any time now. Other than Rickie's lack of ability to get hits and my inability to get useful points consistently from my utility player each week, I've been very happy with my team.

    Week 8

NC Cubs (4-3) at Dishman's Dishmans (2-5) Voo Doo Bayou Bashers (3-4) at Alamo Stealth (3-4) Lynx (3-4) at Buddiga (3-4) The Eyes of Texas (5-2) at Draconian Empire (3-4) Quakers (4-3) at Harrys Budcrew (4-3) Tootielicious (3-4) at Fuzzy Logistics (5-2) Severe Tooterstorms (2-5) at Galesburg Hand Sanitizers (3-4) Raw Dawgs (5-2) at Northside Baseball (4-3) This week marks the start of interleague play. Not a whole lot of inspiring match ups this week, so the game of the week goes to: Raw Dawgs at NSBB

That's the highest score I've seen from a position player. James Shields got me 70 points earlier this season.

    Week 7

That's a tall order, going against the top scoring team in the league next week.
  23. I sure hate missing a Cubs baseball game.
  24. Yeah, me too. Yes, there were some warning track fly balls, but they were wind aided warning track fly balls. If the wind is standing still or blowing in, they are routine fly ball outs. The kid went 6 innings and gave up just a single run to a team that has been doing quite well at putting runs on the board over the last few weeks. I'll take 35 outings exactly like that all season long.
