  1. I think LA will find a way to extend him before season's end. Some team will be dumb enough to trade for Pierre and Jones, freeing the Dodgers up to cough up enough money to extend an actual asset.
  2. Okay maybe I missed somethin but when you said "Mr. Gallagher, please pass on to Sean my congrats for the outstanding work today." What was that all about? Was it a typo or was that directed towards Sean Gallagher's father? Or maybe Sean G. has a split personality that we're just finding out about. Anyway, that part of your post didn't make any sense. I know this might seem shocking to you, but Sean's dad's last name also happens to be Gallagher. ;)
  3. There is a reason Edmonds was cut by the Padres. He sucks. He was horrible defensively and his bat speed has definitely fallen off. Please NO.
  4. Rotoworld's take: Though Corey Patterson was supposed to be at the plate, David Ross batted out of order in the ninth inning of an 8-3 loss to the Mets on Sunday. What is this, Little League? Per MLB rules, Ross has to complete his at-bat to be ruled out, and the outcome of his at-bat is then discarded with no runners allowed to advance. The Mets allowed him to do so, and since he lined out to right there was little harm done. Ross was the batter listed in the order after Patterson, so he was forced to come back to the plate for his 'real' at-bat and Patterson was charged the out. Ross singled after returning to the batter's box. There's almost too many jokes here for us to enjoy. Patterson making outs even when he's not at-bat is just one of them. One also has to wonder exactly what function Dusty Baker is serving if he can't even make sure his hitters know where they're hitting. \:D/

    Week 7

Does it stand for something or is it just a name? I have no idea. Maybe Shane can help us out with what the heck Bevo stands for. All I know is each time I go to Live Scoring, I can never find Eyes of Texas because they have this weird Bevo name instead. We are Bevo. B-E-V-O!
  6. Congrats to both of you. I'd love nothing more than for him to do so well, he forces his way into the rotation for good. Well, I might love a Cubs World Series victory more, but that's an awful lot to ask for. :bye:

    Week 7

Dishman's Dishmans (1-5) at The Eyes of Texas (5-1) Alamo Stealth (3-3)at Lynx (2-4) Northside Baseball (3-3) at Quakers (4-2) Fuzzy Logistics (4-2) at Severe Tooterstorms (2-4) Draconian Empire (3-3) at NC Cubs (3-3) Buddiga (3-3) at Voo Doo Bayou Bashers (2-4) Harrys Budcrew (4-2) at Raw Dawgs (4-2) Galesburg Hand Sanitizers (3-3) at Tootielicious (3-3) Game of the Week: HBC vs. Raw Dawgs If Bevo wins, we will have two teams alone in 1st place awful early in the season. The bigger question. What exactly does Bevo stand for?
  8. What about Michael Bourn?
  9. Meh personally I dont know why Lou deserves credit for this move. Melvin was the one who made the move look good by walking him. Personally I wouldve went with Cedeno, who has shown patience this year, that way if Melvin pitches to him, he has a better chance to put the ball in play. Or if he IBB's him, then you still have one of your best hitters still available, instead of being wasted to get IBB. Melvin should have pitched to Soriano and see if he would get himself out like he so often does. Lou makes a good call and he still gets critiqued. Cub fans are never happy. I read it as a valid difference of opinion on the best way to achieve success given the situation.
  10. Yep, heard on a telecast the other day that Kerry changed the grip of his slider and he's feeling very comfortable with it.
  11. Felix hit two rangers earlier. Most notably, Felix pegged Ian Kinsler, who crushed a home run on his previous at bat. Laird was calling for an inside fastball. Seattle's broadcast booth went back to video of Sexson's at bat and watched Laird get shaken off on 3 or 4 signals, all of which were requesting something inside, and Gabbard finally did appease Laird. Granted, Sexson overreacted on the call, but Texas purposely were throwing inside on Sexson, even if Gabbard missed high rather than inside. Basically, it appeared to me that either Laird or the bench called for the inside pitch, and Gabbard really didn't want to do it.
  12. I haven't looked yet, but I'm guessing I'll actually get the Cubs/D'Backs telecast today since Arizona is the only western division team on the Fox schedule for today, which would make my day.
  13. Haha. Seattle and Texas play each other again this coming week. More fireworks please.
  14. This is a no brainer. Scherzer won't even stay in the rotation past two more starts. Doug Davis is currently on a rehab assignment and will get his rotation spot back as soon as he is declared ready to return from cancer treatment. Scherzer will then likely move to the pen or back to the minors.
  15. It's very unfortunate that Izzy didn't blow a save last Sunday night.
  16. I think Yost deserves an extension.
  17. I was watching this game last night and saw everything leading up to Sexson charging the mound. Hilarious. What's even better is you don't have to hit Sexson with a pitch. Just lob a couple of pitches down broadway and he'll strike out swinging. If Texas really wanted to hit someone, throw it at someone who has a higher batting average than a pitcher.
  18. YAY, someone gets what they are trying to do to the exterior. Remove those huge ugly concrete slabs and replace that garrish chain link fencing with decorative iron. If you look at old pictures of Wrigley, you will see where they are going with this idea. It will look so much better. Do they have old photos of the stadium through the years on the walls of the executive offices? I ask because I can't think of better wall fixtures than old photos through the years. My local bank has pictures on their walls of photos of the early days of the actual spot where the bank currently sits. It's pretty cool to see how areas develop over time, not to mention rather historic.
  19. Oh darn, you mean I don't get to watch him K 3 times today? No, but you do get to watch Reed continue to suck it up hardcore against another lefty. I'm sure this is just a typo, but as has been stated before, Haren really is a righty. So, I'm assuming you meant that he'd suck it up hardcore against another righty.
  20. Edmunds is done. I think it would make sense if Boston traded Coco Crisp to San Diego for Edmunds. San Diego is looking to really shake things up in the coming days. There has been a ton of discussion that the offense has no identity whatsoever. No big names, no go to guy, no nothing. What they could get out of Crisp is someone who can cover a lot of ground in CF and could lead off and be a threat on the bases, which is just another thing they don't have.
  21. Baltimore needs a new owner, GM, manager, etc........ I don't care about them. I'll only start caring about them if they consider selling off players for something less than an entire farm system in return. Until then, we have games to win.
  22. San Diego's biggest problem right now is offense. Pie certainly doesn't fix that.
  23. He's not magically going to become a better pitcher, but the Cubs become magically better when Marquis is not pitching.
  24. Poor Roger. He gets thrown under the bus, AGAIN! That's okay, though. There's a whole new batch of 15 year old high school girls he can pick from that could be VERY supportive of him during this very trying time in his life. :D
