  1. Wow. An extremely rare night game (for me anyway). I love real 7pm starts. :clapping: I've only got tickets for the Wednesday night game. Lilly shall redeem himself this night.
  2. I'll be at the Wednesday game, but I don't any tickets to spare.

Yeah, I don't expect Pedro to go deep into games, either. But, you have to start a guy that's facing teams like San Fran and the Padres in their home parks. As much as I like Laffey, I just can't find a start for him this week.

Anybody going to the Cubs/Pads series? The wife and I have tickets for the Wednesday night game. This is a horrible week for the Cubs to be in town. This is one of my busiest times of the year and it seems like they are here around this time every year where I can only go to 1 game. At least I'll get to see Lilly redeem himself. The key to beating the Padres is to pitch around Adrian Gonzalez.

Should be a good match up. I wish Holliday wasn't on the DL right now, but I do like my pitching this week.

    Ah. Apparently I missed that.

I've never heard that before. Is that new?

Just checking and maybe I missed their demotions, but JR Towles, Armando Gallaraga and Michael Bourn are all in the minors, have scored points for their fantasy major league team and are all active.
  9. The Cubs had a reliever named Jose Cueto in the minor leagues a few years back, but I don't think he ever made it to the bigs. I could be wrong since I haven't bothered to look it up.

Did I somehow miss a rule that allows you to put active players in the minors? The way I have understood the rules, once you promote someone, you can't send them back down unless they are officially sent down.
  11. I had to do it I don't think I'll ever understand the complete and utter vitriol this board has for that guy He's horrible in the booth. Granted, there are many others who are arguably just as bad in the booth, but the whole Ryne Sandberg thing jets Morgan past everyone for the absolute worst. Did you miss the whole Ryne Sandberg thing? If so, then I could marginally understand how you can ask that question. But, if you are even remotely aware of Morgan not voting for Sandberg for the HOF, that might be the most foolish question this board has ever seen.
  12. To move from 39th to 2nd in one outing tells me that most of the pitchers in that group are not really all that overworked, since Carlos hasn't really been "overworked". It seems as though most managers have caught on to lightening starter's workloads. Although, I have noticed that Dusty is starting to let Volquez and Cueto get their pitch counts up there a bit more the last few weeks. All it will take for Dusty to blow those guy's arms up is a few bullpen collapses.
  13. If Carlos is heavy at anything, it's strike outs. And yes, it is sustainable for a guy who has heavy strike out tendencies. ;)
  14. What a tough game to miss. But, I was golfing for free, and that's always a good thing. I rushed here after seeing the highlights on ESPN with no sound. Most of the highlights featured some guy I couldn't recognize singing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame", and I figured it must have been a really bad version. But, what scared me was seeing Soto with only 2 at bats in the box score. I'm relieved to know these guys were just pulled for rest. I'm still a bit buzzed, but I'm celebrating a huge comeback!

    NEED SP

I've got SP if you are willing to part with a 3b. Make me an offer.
  16. Who honestly believes Bradley can still play CF? I don't. He's about as brittle as any player who stepped onto a major league playing surface. He has been spending equal time at DH and LF because they don't trust his surgically repaired knee. I like what Bradley brings to the plate. But, if the Cubs were to pick him up, Fukudome or Soriano will have to shift to CF. That's a fact.
  17. We basically traded Jacque Jones for him. Jacque Jones to Detroit for Omar Infante Omar Infante was then spun to Atlanta for Ascanio.
  18. The rumor I heard was that Glendon Rusch was starting for Colorado on Saturday.
  19. This just seems like a showcase move, IMO. The bullpen is where the Cubs may be able to afford to make a trade or two to boost the starting staff or CF. Besides the fact that the pen has been a bit overworked of late. If they can get some quality innings out of Cotts, they might be able to impress some other teams with 2 bullpen arms like Cotts and Ascanio.
  20. How quickly we all forget that the Dodgers gave the Cubs Cesar Izcrapius for Greg Maddux. And we want to send 4 young guys for Derek Lowe? Reed Johnson seems fair.
  21. Glendon Rusch starting against the Cubs on Saturday. Yay. Edmunds on the bench against a RHP.
  22. Yes. Because having the best record in the NL only hurts the team. Please give it up already. If Soriano hadn't missed two weeks, he might be the team leader in just about every offensive category except OBP and AVG. He is just fine in the lead of spot. (Please note that the Cubs are STILL #1 in the run scoring department with your buddy hitting lead off). Now if we could just get Theriot out of the top half of the order, maybe Lee and Ramirez could have more RBI opportunities.
  23. Wow. How sad. I was really cheering for him on his comeback attempt.
  24. I'm hoping not to have to use the term "Gascanio" anytime soon.

    Week 9

Dishman's Dishmans (2-6) at Voo Doo Bayou Bashers (3-5) Alamo Stealth (4-4) at NC Cubs (5-3) Lynx (4-4) at Draconian Empire (4-4) The Eyes of Texas (5-3) at Buddiga (3-5) Tootielicious (4-4) at Quakers (5-3) Fuzzy Logistics (5-3) at Harrys Budcrew (4-4) Raw Dawgs (6-2) at Severe Tooterstorms (3-5) Galesburg Hand Sanitizers (3-5) at Northside Baseball (4-4) Matchup Of The Week: GHS vs. NSBB While the rest of the league cherishes in Adam's profanity laced tirades, this match up has become a historic rivalry, even if both teams are not living up to the standards they've set the past few years. Johan Santana's two starts this week will be tough for GHS to overcome. But, Ryan Dempster will be facing a rather weak and injured looking Colorado team in his two start week, so Dempster has a chance to match Santana's output.
