  1. I don't put much stock in that site, and I'm not that huge on Mench, but if we could get him for Corey I would be all over it.
  2. what? you're not changing arm speed or delivery from your fastball if you're doing it right. it's the resistance the ball sees that slows the ball down, not arm speed. the forces on the arm should be the same. 12 year olds learn this pitch. it should be the second pitch you learn (after the fastball). How many pitchers in MLB have a really effective changeup? It is an easy pitch to learn to throw. It is hard to learn to be deceptive enough with it to be effective. my guess is hill knows how to throw the changeup. how can you get to that level and not? it's either not very good or he doesn't believe in using it for whatever reason. His fastball/curveball repertoire has certainly been good enough to dominate (his K/9 has always been ridiculous). it's his command of the curveball that's hampered his progress. we need to do a Q&A with Rich Hill. I gots me some questions. I thought it was always his command with his fastball that gave him trouble?
  3. I would be pretty upset with Jones, Monroe or Encarnacion unless a guy like Manny is in the other corner outfield spot.
  4. GO BULLS!
  5. I like the sig flames. The team this year is so pathetic it is becomine quite funny to me. When it seemed like Driver might have been hurt in the Pittsburgh game I actually started laughing.
  6. Miguel Cabrera. I don't know if Florida would trade him, but I'd trade Prior or Z for him straight up. When attitude (I admit its all based on speculation) and defense is considered I would almost rather have Jason Bay. I still wouldnt trade Z for him though.
  7. I don't think Furcal will pick 2B for the Mets over SS for the Cubs. If the money is equal, I think you're right. On the other hand, I've gotten wind of a far-fetched rumor that has the Mets dealing Matsuii in the above deal, dealing Reyes for Soriano, and then signing Furcal to play SS. Wow. That would be interesting. Doesn't reyes play some second base, or did that experiment bomb? They would have some wicked mean speed if they had Furcal, Reyes(who shouldnt be in the top of the order at this point in time but probably always will be) and Beltran(if last year was a fluke anyways)
  8. No brainer. I would substitute Washburn in for Byrd if it was roughly the same cost. Neither Washburn nor Byrd are worth near that much. How about taking that $7 million, adding another $3-4 million to it and getting Giles? Can't argue with that, in fact I would much prefer it. I was just looking at alternatives to the spots filled who would cost about the same, and be more productive (imho)
  9. With some of the predictions talking three years and less than thirty million, we had better be at least involved.
  10. Would you rather have Furcal (est. 9 million), Neifi (2.5 million), Rusch (3 million) Dempster (5 million) (total = 19.5 million) or Cedeno (300,000) Walker (2.5 million) Byrd (est 7 million) and BJ Ryan (est 9 million) (total = 19 million) ?
  11. When did Bradley have problems in anaheim with Mike Scioscia?
  12. I was flipping through and I saw that and almost went insane thinking the Yankees fired cashman and hired that bum. I am glad I didn't do that tomorrow because I seriously might have killed myself
  13. Looking at Wagner, Farnsworth, Rogers, Encarnacion, Morris, Giles, Jones I would say its a list of most hilarious faces.
  14. In order to get a decent enough sample, players are projected out to more ABs/Gs than they would get. All #s are based on major league stats. How do they do a guy like Brandon Sing then? by the way if Sing can put up those number then I say give him a spot on the bench.
  15. It was a different GM that made that awful move. And Milledge is basically the same player as Pie and I'm not all that enamored with either of them so I don't see why you would trade Wood for him.
  16. It's a shame that they didnt give him another year because I would like this year to be Hendrys last shot, and I wouldn't have minded seeing Depo replace him if he failed.
  17. I'm thinking that the Marlins would never move Cabrera for the same reason I do this: =P~ when thinking about him on the Cubbies.
  18. something tells me that Saenz is not the answer for our bullpen.
  19. alou only put up 280/357/462 with 22 homers in 03. It wouldn't completely surprise me to see Murton put up a 280/350/450 next year, and that is not that much of a drop off from Alou's '03.
  20. Hopefully that Astros are fed up with him and trade him to us!
