speaking of conor jackson, think how young and good the dbacks offense could possibly be in a couple years with Jackson and Quentin(my two favorite prospects in all of baseball), Drew, Santos, Hairston, eventually Upton
Really? I could have sworn someone else on this board quoted a substantial loss in runs for Ozzie. Not that I disagree, but that's what I remember hearing. BTW, what calculations do you use to come up with these numbers? His career OPS+ is 82, I'm pretty sure an average OPS+ is around 100. It sounds like overall he was below average, but compared to other shortstops in the the league he was slightly above average.
I actually think Edmonds may have a shot. His power and plate discipline combined with his defense(percieved defense anyway) give him at least a shot, especially if he can put up 4-5 more productive years.
Its so hard to tell when they're having a new episode or a rerun. Good show though. Last semester I watched it every morning. In fact it made me skip physics just about every day.
I would think that they would get a better score for the entertainment and fan. Santo is one of the biggest cubs fans there is and when he groans in agony he is pretty much groaning with the entire fan base. Also I dont really understand why some of the teams radio team is being judged and some of the teams tv crew is being judged. Its kinda like apples and oranges.
Call me crazy but I don't mind guys who hit homers when a single is needed. Heres my off the wall theory: HR>1B Also Juan pierre is one of the most overrated players in baseball. He is decent but I can't wait until he hits free agency and somebody gives him about 8 million a year. Speaking of overrated, isnt it funny how Carlos Beltran goes from being one of the most underrated players to being one of the most overrated players?
How do you feel about Felix Rodriguez? He just came back from the DL and we just got a replacement for Holla. Do you think a Holla/F-Rod swap would help the team enough? I have no problem with that. Holla is a bench player in my mind, and Gerut is a better platoon LF. The thing I worry about is paying prospects for middle /setup relief, which can be like playing the lottery in terms of projecting performance. Are you referring to something similar to Garland for Karchner?
Who would have thought that Billy Beane traded away the right two guys? After looking at the three pitchers stats I would say that Barry Zito is the one having the best year, and I did not see that coming at all.
I wouldnt mind a Nixon/Murton platoon especially if nomar comes back strong in a few weeks. vs lefties Walker Nomar Lee Aramis Burnitz Murton Barrett Patterson vs righties Walker Nomar Lee Nixon Aramis Burnitz Barrett Patterson/Gerut ?
Based on combined OPS it looks like the cubs currently have the top one-two offensive punch in baseball. as far as I can tell it goes like this: Aramis/DLee: 2141 ARod/Sheff: 1975 Pujols/Edmonds: 1971 Roberts/Tejada: 1944 Cabrera/Delgado: 1923 Manny/Ortiz: 1907
I'm not saying that platoon wont happen, but I will be pretty upset if it does happen. Pie has a huge amount of work to do on his plate discipline and basestealing. The earliest I want him given a shot to earn regular playing time is in 2007.
