  1. I actually don't have that big a problem with Macias getting a start. If you're going to have him on the roster, I don't mind him getting a start one out of every 20 games or so. His presence on the roster is the real problem. I guess I don't mind him starting now and then, but I definately think Macias should be pursuing another proffesion such as McDonalds or Burger King.
  2. I think giving Macias multiple at bats in a game would qualify for this thread.
  3. Wow, they really have faith in Sisco. He just came into the sox/royals game with the royals up 3-2 with 2 runners on and 1 out in the 8th. He struck out Dye and looks amazing.
  4. That's only unbelievable if you assume we have a competent manager... It's called playing the percentages. Best. Sig. Ever. seconded. I hate Macias, in fact I think his only role on this team should be pulling all the real players cars up to the exit after the game as well as calling cabs. Another thing that I found hilarious is when Ben Grieve walked out of the stadium to leave he was carying one bag with a pirates logo on it and another with a brewers logo. Can't the Cubs afford a new bag for him?
  5. You might be right. At the same time, Karchner sucked huge and was not worth the talent given up at the time. Just because he doesn't have a place now doesn't justify ignoring the disparity in value. Who knows if we would have spent $2M on Dempster this year if Garland was around? How about $3M on Estes (of course, there is the lefty component with him). As I said, you might be right. I just can't agree that its that black and white. How about the big maddux contract? I am in the minority in thinking that his contract was based more on emotion than need. I'm not sure Garland's presence based on his 2003 would have stopped the Maddux signing. I totally agree with that, but having Garland definately would have lessened the chances of signing Maddux IMO.

  7. You lasted longer than I could, Tim. And I thought I gave him the benefit of the doubt for too long. Suckers. 8) you should probably add Jon Garland to your sig.
  8. I think that comparing Pitt to the royals is a pretty bad analogy.
  9. Macias is on deck in case the bases our loaded in the 9th :(
  10. I would like to see ZZ defend bringing in Remlinger in that situation.
  11. If Sisco continues pitching like he has this year for the entire year, will he become a regular bullpen guy or maybe given a chance to start in KC in the next couple years, or will they send him down next year?
  12. How often in history have two brothers starred on the same team?
  13. he did give up a sac fly that tied the game up, so that is probably why. I'm pretty sure that anytime a reliever blows a lead at any point in the game it technically counts as a blown save.
  14. It was a really disappointing outing for Kerry. I expected him to come up big, and he looked terrible. I don't know what else to say about it. He looked plain awful. I was happy with Kerry until the 6th inning. He had much better control, although it seemed that came with some loss of velocity on his fastball, and his Slider was pretty awesome at times. I was really hoping for a dominant outing tonight but now I am left in a state of doubt. Lets just hope Prior continues where he left off in his last outing tomorrow.
  15. The bottom line in this game is that Kerry and especially Ice blew it, but why oh why did Dusty not get someone up in the 8th after Ice showed absolutely no control?
  16. I am of the opinion that that is a stretch.
  17. :lmao: I think Dusty's dice are rigged to roll Neif EVERY time.
  18. Yes, this brings up a good point. These are Wuertz's minor league stats. Note the 4.31 ERA, the 1.39 WHIP and the 7 K/9 IP. Those aren't exactly stellar numbers. Why do people have this infatuation with the guy like he's the best reliever we have? Yes, he pitched very well last year for Iowa as the closer, in his third full year in that league. His stuff isn't anything special, and he doesn't look like much more than an average bullpen arm. So in the bullpen we have Hawkins, who is very good as a setup man but mediocre as a closer. Wuertz, already I've talked about him. Fox can be pretty good when he's healthy, but who knows what he's got left after a few arm surgeries. Remlinger is only slightly above average at this point in his career. Bartosh is just a mediocre lefty specialist. Rusch is OK as well. That's not a good bullpen at all, it's a bunch of guys who are decent. A team with one of the top payrolls in the league should expect better than a bunch of OK guys. your avatar guy is on comedy central right now!
  19. The bulls deserve a bump for tonights game.
  20. So what does the book say when Hill is up, first base is open, but the guy behind him had gone 3 for 3 with 2 home runs off your current ace thus far? Your argument is just as vaild as the argument for not letting that guy beat you, again! So how can you really fault Dusty when you're dammed if you do and dammed if you don't. When you are thus dammed, you can only rely on your players, and Dusty's BP totally blew it for him tonight. They let in 4 runs in a one run game! Macias and Perez's success I find funny. I say keep Perez, but what is Macias? Our new defensive replacement? He played a very solid 3rd the other day, a great outfield assist...too bad he's 1 for 12. It really is Hendry's fault he's on the team. totally agree with you there
  21. a strong year by both Wood and Prior, and decent HR power 2-5. Your not giving any credit to Dusty for 03'? magic dust?
  22. and amazingily enough the Cubs have scored 7 runs by the 3rd inning. Lets try to make sure that the moves are poor before we discount them Here's a fun story. One time I got really, really drunk, and I went outside. I saw a car that had a Cardinals bumper sticker on it. I hate the Cardinals so I walked over and put a bomb in it and blew it up because it seemed like a good idea to me. To my surprise, it turned out that Osama bin Laden was hiding in the trunk and I had killed him! I was immediately lauded as a hero. Wonderful analogy!
  23. http://www.somethingawful.com/articles.php?a=2790 HOLY CRAP!!!! DON'T MESS WITH WARRIOR!
  24. Dude, It wasnt' the right move, man! I bet if we played this exact game under the exact same conditions 200 times, 100 w/ neifi starting and 100 with hairston starting then hairston would perform better than neifi, in fact if it were possible I would bet everything I own on it. Bakers job is not to just get lucky with his moves, it is to make the moves with the greatest chance of making the team succeed. When he makes a bad move that turns out not all that bad he absolutely does not deserve any credit as you say he does. Neifi starting was the absolute wrong move and that you cannot see that blows my mind.
  25. I am sick of all the Dusty Lusters who try to blindly defend every bad move he makes just because they love him so much....
