  1. It looks like Raffy didn't hit for as much power as gracey in the minors. At their AA stops Raffy hit 12 homers and 29 doubles in 509 at bats and Mark hit 17 homers and 29 doubles in 453 at bats. So I would guess that the Cubs thought Grace would hit for more power over the course of his career.
  2. I wasnt very old at the time but Grace was my favorite cub growing up so I feel choosing either one to go with would have been a good call, especially considering the results of both players. I just don't like the return we got for Raffy (and Moyer) at all. Wild Thing was pretty huge in 89 but besides him it looked like we got a lot of crap.
  3. sometimes I think about the Devil Rays trading him for the amazing Kevin Stocker and I laugh.
  4. My glove that I have had my entire life has a specific finger hole and I definately use it. If feels wierd to keep the index finger inside the glove and I feel that you can control the squeeze much better with the finger out.
  5. You would really have Dempster close over Sutter or Smith? My starter pick is '84 Sarge to leadoff with that 400+ obp
  6. I thought Morgan picked Teixeira and Berman picked Ortiz and Morgans longshot was Lee and Bermans was Pudge. Not to defend Morgan or anything because I think he is a moron.
  7. I would like to profess my undying love for Mr. Murton in this thread and also would like to jump aboard the bandWGN!
  8. That can't be it. Derrek can lift over 1000 pounds with ease. My guess is that kryptonite is involved in some way.
  9. I GOT KIRK RUETERS AUTOGRAPH AT MARINELLI LIKE 15 YEARS AGO!!!! AND I SAW GRUDZ PLAY!!!!!!! That is definately a really bad part of town, I'm from Winnebago (just west of rockford, you have probably never heard of it) so I used to go out to the park a lot in the early nineties. Haven't been in a while though.
  10. Couldn't Burnett just add to those injury problems though?
  11. Not a bad scenario. The A's may want someone a little closer to the majors I would imagine though. And I'm not sure if the reds would bite since they are in the Central, even though that is a pretty decent package. Our offense would be pretty good though. I like this lineup a lot! Kotsay Walker Lee Dunn Ramirez Burnitz Barrett Perez/Cedeno :D :D :D Please Jim, make it happen
  12. I think you extremely underate Dunn. So there! I actually don't think Branyan is that bad of a player. He gets on base and has a lot of pop. And most people think he is awful and then a team can sign him for a small price.
  13. hopefully not for too long.
  14. A couple weeks into the season I made a bet with my moron friend that Pujols would finish with a higher batting average, considering the huge advantage Pujols held over Lee career wise. Of course I didn't forsee Lee staying so hot and now I feel like the moron
  15. Actually (just somewhat rough estimates of course) If Lee hits at his career average for the rest of the season he will finish with a BA of about .325 and if he hits .300 for the rest of the year he will finish with a BA of about .340 which are both easily reachable for Albert. That said, considering how hot Lee has been, I really can't see him slowing down to his career levels but If he were to he would be far from folding and still be at levels reachable for Mr. Pujols.
  16. That game was the first time I got to wear my authentic Kerry Wood gray road jersey. I would burn it if it didnt cost so much and/or I believed in superstitions.
  17. If star players are involved then how can countries like Italy, Australia etc have a chance? It doesnt seem like it would be a fair competition to me.
  18. I would think the decision to start Leicester would be on Hendry moreso than Baker. Is there any final word on who was sent back down? It better be Novoa
  19. I would think the decision to start Leicester would be on Hendry moreso than Baker.
  20. I liked Pargo before last night
  21. Thanks. It seems like he is the type of guy the cubs don't like (lack of stuff) but I really like guys who can throw strikes.
  22. What is everyones thoughts about JR Mathes? I really like his K/BB, his BB/9 and his HR/9. He pitched pretty well at Boise last year after being drafted and he seems to be continuing where he left off this year with Daytona. I can't really find much information on him and if someone here can fill me in I would appreciate it.
