  1. I took part in 3 fantasy drafts with 10 teams each and got Barrett in the 15th round or later in all of them despite Michael being the best hitting catcher in the NL. He's very underrated. Thank you for making my point. Catchers are also worthless offensively. Most people jump the gun. I saw someone take Mauer in the 4th round. Yup every catcher is worthless offensively. None of them can hit a ball off a tee. Downright atrocious. Go to your room and take a nap. Who was the best offensive catcher last season? Martinez. He ranked 160th among MLB players (using Yahoo's ranking system and standard scoring categories). If you have 10 teams, why would you be taking him before the 10th round? Barrett, our Silver Slugger, ranks 356th. Typically, your backup outfielders put up better numbers than your catchers do. That's pretty worthless (in the fantasy baseball world). I took Martinez with my second round pick because I am CRAZY! :D
  2. I am! edit* I am a poor college student and can't afford all of them, so if you are looking to sell all of them in one package I will have bow out.
  3. That doesnt work for me. I have two open but when I try to open more it directs me back to one that I have open telling me to wait for it to refresh :(
  4. Maddux sure could use some Clostridium botulinum toxin.
  5. I think I will officially boycott the season if that deal happens.
  6. He is worth whatever someone would be willing to pay, but just as I would not want to be the one paying Furcal 13 million or Damon 14 million I do not want to be the one paying Lee 15 million.
  7. I didn't know he had that much velocity. What is really exciting about him is that he has only pitched for a few years. Anyone know if he is going to be in Iowas rotation this year or will he start the season with the Jaxx?
  8. Trade him now while his value is highest. We could get a load of young talent for him.
  9. Awesome, awesome park. I think the bridge is the best part. The sandwiches with the french fries on them rock!
  10. no health/age concerns Zambrano Prior Wood Buehrle Garland realistically Zambrano Buehrle Prior Garland Garcia imo.
  11. Does the three week clause refer to injury time accumulated throughout the season or three consecutive weeks?
  12. other = joe morgan
  13. People, people, you forget that our entire ’06 team philosophy seems to be predicated on catching lighting in a bottle - over and over again! (need I remind you of our starting right fielder??) My point is only this - you can't catch lighting without a bottle . . . This is true, I think, maybe. Is he pitching for the Italian team this spring? Yes, along with other "Italians" such as Mike Piazza, Dan Miceli, Ron Villone, Matt Mantei, David Dellucci, and Frank Catalanotto. I think all you need to be granted Italian citizenship is a vowel at the end of your name.
  14. pat is probably one of my favorite people.
  15. I am pretty sure he was still with the Cubs in 1990. Anyways, I sure hope for our sake that he has a good year, but I am not holding my breath.
  16. This book is definately on my list of baseball books to read. I got "The book on the book" and "Weaver on Strategy" on the way though so It will be a little bit before I get the chance.
  17. In my mind that question is a no brainer. No. Of course he probably gained value due to increased production. He only had very minimal value in the first place, so I don't think it matters all that much
  18. Any updates on Ronny's results from Venezuala? I'm sure that league has to be wrapping up shortly if not already.
  19. My vote is for the Delmons.
  20. It was the other guy that killed the shark. Maybe we are all wrong.
  21. That is a good question. If you break it down to "who is the better hitter," I believe it is a no-brainer - Albert Pujols. I really can't think of a better overall hitter in the game than Pujols. Challenges welcome. Despite the fact that Pujols is a pretty good fielding 1st baseman, with the ability to play other positions - I would say that Derrek Lee is the better overall player of the two. Lee has good wheels, an incredible glove, and the jury is out concerning if he can continue to destroy inside pitching (the main reason he broke out in 2005). It is true that Pujols can steal a base, but Lee has superior speed, a better glove/reach, and a comparable bat (but not a better bat). In addition, I think it is fair to guess that DLee is going to drive in many more runs and score more runs than he did in 2005 - all because of the acquisition of Juan Pierre. I think this could be true if they played a more important position defensively or if Pujols were a butcher with the leather.
  22. When people rip on him its not because they are against him just because they are, its because of the moves he makes that they do not agree with.
  23. Pie was hurt for a while and because of that you shouldn't put much stock in his winter league play. It was always his tools moreso than his results that had everyone excited anyways. He is still a top 30 prospect, imo.
  24. That is the captain america costume that Dempster wore to a blackhawks game!
  25. We must be looking at different upper thirds then, because on the graph I am looking at he is just about league average if not slightly above in most of the upper third.
