  1. Vs. a soft-tossing lefty the night after a blowout usually means we'll score about 2 runs. Against those free swinging Cubs of Dusty yes but, this Cub team appears to have an idea that showing some plate discipline pays off. Being so, I believe they'll wait out Estes, draw some BB's and score some runs.
  2. I gotta agree, this game is way, way, over, great base running there Johnson, quality.
  3. He, along with Rich Hill, should have known that prior to the NLDS last year.
  4. We have the highest run differential this year out of all teams. I meant last year. That just annoyed me for some reason. Cubs out scored them 19-18 yet, managed to lose 4 of 6...
  5. Lohse' line from his last two starts: 0-2 W-L, 10 IP, 17 H, 15 ER, 7 BB, 4 K - I think he just realize he sucks, won't be long before Wellemeyer follows suit.
  6. Dunn and Votto have a combined 11 HRs, 6 vs. the Cubs, isn't it about time one or the other were brushed back?
  7. Not really. We aren't getting any calls or any breaks. We aren't scoring many runs either, in most games. The offense looks good because we explode in some games, but then like yesterday, it's struggle struggle struggle. It's weird. I'm not sure if we can call it feast or famine, because the team is still getting on base at a decent clip. It's just not getting that key hit. So bizarre that we've loaded the bases in I think 18 straight games, but we are having trouble scoring runs. At least were getting on base. It's only a matter of time before we make another run. Seconded, if this team maintains its approach at the plate they're going to continue to get base runners eventually Lee, Ramirez and company will start driving them in.
  8. I bet we win one. Maybe. We're gonna get swept. By a team with exactly one legitimate hitter in their lineup, unbelievable.
  9. I don't believe there's an OF left on the bench, is there? Because, Soriano needs to be benched now.
  10. Will Soriano every do anything good with a RISP EVER
  11. Wow, what a potentially crushing blow to Brewers, if I were a Brewer fan I'd be very worried about Sheets as well. A pitcher with good control like Sheets usually doesn't issue as many BB's as he did Tuesday night unless somethings wrong. If still cannot consistently find the plate during his next few starts I suspect the trip to the DL isn't far behind.
  12. The Cards have proven they can win in the past with less talent, where Baker has proven he can screw up a team with more talent. I am becoming more worried about them with every passing day. Still expect them to have a rough stretch soon enough though that will put them back too far. Steve Stone mentioned that pitchers are usually ahead of the hitters in April, once the weather becomes consistently warmer I believe the "magic" of Dave Duncan will wear off. Wellemeyer, Lohse, Looper will all come back down to Earth.
  13. Outside of Sheets/Gallardo, the Brewers don't have the pitching talent to win the division by 5 games (as of right now, neither does the Cubs). IMO, the Brewers bullpen will cost the Brewers alot of games this yr. The Brewers still look like a 85-87 win team, but a team the Cubs should outlast for the division. Additionally the Brewers are pinning their hopes on Mark Prior North - Ben Sheets - we know how well that worked out for the Cubs staff in 2004-06. Those 7 BB's that Sheets issued Monday night have to worry the Brewers, remember when we thought Prior was "back" in '06 yet, he couldn't consistently find the strike zone?
  14. It's nice to see cueto get lit up early by a terrible team Yes it is, nice to see Dusty up to his old tricks with rookies, Votto has a bad game (0-4 last night) and is benched for the punch-less Hatteberg.
  15. I did not see a 4/24 Other Games thread but, Paul Frickin Bako singles in a run as the Reds tie the Astros at 3 in the 2nd. Bako with 7 RBI's on the season, unbelievable.
  16. Yeah, I guess so...
  17. True enough, but, we may have a genuinely good team here, maintaining a disciplined approach is about as slump free as one can get. Hopefully, no more getting dominated by average to poor pitchers such a Doug Davis - who is exhibit A of a pitcher using a hitter' aggression against him.
  18. I was thinking along the same lines, early on, let the Cards beat the Brewers, its a long season and the Cards are a terrible team. Inevitably the Cards will fade into 4th or 5th place but, until then let'em help out the Cubs.
  19. And if that happens what are the odds that there will be a 10 page thread complaining about the Cubs winning too many games so they won't be ready for the playoffs or something like that? > 66.7%
  20. Well, 2 of 3 from the Reds, if Cubs are going to persist with this vs the Pirates and the remainder of the season I think I'll manage to live with .667 ball. It'll be difficult but, I'll adjust.
  21. Seconded, Dusty' only redeeming qualities where he's Single Malt drinker - The Macallan - and some of his post games excuses for veteran players poor performance. Remember last year when he told Jacque Jones got doubled off a 2nd in Arizona because of the thin air?
  22. Thank goodness Derek Lee can hit and field while Ryan Howard can hit but not field.
  23. Ready to watch more Moyer BP fastballs taken for strikes!!!!!
  24. Ready to watch more Moyer BP fastballs taken for strikes!!!!!
  25. Phillies crap now on base two of three at bats...
