  1. What about Werth, Helms? I know it was unrealistic to expect the Phillies to take 2 of 3 but, can't those clowns at least win one game?
  2. I'm thinking it about time Ohman got sent to Iowa and Pignatiello was given a shot. Ohman doesn't have options. He'd have to be placed on waivers and then he could become a FA with the Cubs still paying his salary. I was wondering about that, its too bad, thanks for the clarification.
  3. In '84 they where both in the NL East... Yes. I was at that game four against the Mets when we swept them. I'll never forget the atmosphere of that game. Was that the game in which Jody Davis nearly hit the camera booth in CF? I'm thinking he cranked off of Dwight Gooden.

  6. I wonder if Jim Hendry looked into obtaining Pat Burrell, given the Phillies lack of pitching, someone like Rich Hill or Sean Marshall would be their No. 2 starter. There's no way the Phillies are going to make to the playoffs with their staff as currently constructed - they won't be able to outscore teams every game.
  7. The most frustrating aspect of this game is crap like Wes Helms is 2-2.
  8. 21 ER in 30 IP, an OPS of .800+, BAA .360+ the Cubs will get to this guy.
  9. Do the Phillies seriously think they'll have a chance with this staff? Outside of Myers and Hamels, its pretty weak.
  10. Which is a distinct possibility considering the Phillies have a much weaker bullpen and staff, for that matter.
  11. Listening to the Score on the way into work this morning, Mike North actually said something viable - "...Ryan Howard is stupid baseball player". I wouldn't flag him as a stupid baseball player however, beyond hitting there's really nothing else Howard does well. I'll give him the bat over D. Lee but, D. Lee beats him hand over fist in the remaining facets of the game, so to does Prince Fielder and of course, Albert Pujols. Despite the MVP last season, I believe Pujols is the superior hitter and player compared to Howard.
  12. I believe this time it may have been the heat, he was pretty good through 4.
  13. The silver lining is unlike Cole Hamels, Jamie Moyer has to perfect to be effective, if his missing his spots, he's going to get crushed.
  14. Not true (I think it may have been, years ago); now waivers are needed for any trades after July 31. The significance of Aug. 31 is that's the last day a player can be added to a team's roster for postseason eligibility. Thanks, now that you mention it, I knew that, nevertheless, thanks.
  15. Indeed, if Hendry doesn't give him a shot, that may very mean he thinks the Cubs are set.
  16. I may be wrong but, isn't the intra-league waiver deadline August 31? If so, Hendry has until the end of month to aquire Church before having to get him by waivers.
  17. I'm quite probably overtly optimistic but, I believe Lee, Ramirez and Murton are going to mash Moyer tonight while Hill keeps the Phillies in check.
  18. Didn't Len say this game was a WGN broadcast Sunday?
  19. I thinking of one of two scenarios: 1. Hendry tried to upgrade with a Griffey, Dunn or Church but, their price tags were outrageous. 2. Hendry has been fooled by the last two months into thinking the Cubs, as they are currently constructed, will get to the playoffs and beyond. I'm hoping 1. was the case but, my heart tells me 2. is much more probable.
  20. Braun hitting .500 (yes, .500 freckin hundred) vs LHP is big reason for their success against lefties - he can't continue this all season, can he?
  21. I wouldn't do that, once he removes that Cardinal uniform, the magic pixie dust goes with it.
  22. He didnt "make" a rumor. He reported what he heard on the SCORE, chill. It doesn't sound realistic though. Just yesterday both Hendry and Lou denied they were shopping Pie. Nor will the Reds make a deal, they're content to hang on to Griffey and Dunn rather than use them to gain some pitching. So, next season, they'll continue to score tons of runs while allowing tons of runs on the way to a 5th or 6th place finish.
  23. This is tainted because of his dealings with the Cubs but, when's the last time Schuerholz dealt quality for quality? JD Drew deal?
