  1. They didn't Vs. Zito. They did a little, if I recall correctly, Zito PC was in the 60's after 3 IP, just so happens Mr. Zito decided to throw strikes that night. Of course, vs the Brewers he'll probably have issued 5+ BB's by the 3rd.
  2. I believe the Cubs will get to Webb today, this is far different team from the swing first ask questions later versions Webb faced 2003-2006. They've shown the ability to work a pitcher a little bit which will help with Webb.
  3. Let's hope steroid Barry, Winn and that OBP machine Pedro Feliz keep it up over the weekend. If they do, I believe there's a good chance they may take two of three, Lowry, Lincecum and Zito going for the Giants - yes, I know the Brewers have hit LHP well but, I wouldn't be surprised if Lowry or Zito pulled one out.
  4. BFD, the Giants scored, do really believe this terrible team is going shut the Cubs down?
  5. Terribly. It doesn't irk me more when a below average player consistantly kills the cubs. During the Pitts series, I couldn't watch when .270 Xavier Nady came up, knowing he was going to gap it everytime. What about Kevin Mench? I was ](*,) when Cubs walked him when he rarely does it. Feliz has 18 BB's on the season and has drawn 3 this series!!!!
  6. Anyone else sick of seeing Feliz (sporting a robust 2007 OBP of .281, lifetime .287) getting on base and drawing BB's?
  7. The only way the Giants are going to score is if Zambrano cannot find the strike zone and issues a few BB's.
  8. After last night its pretty apparent that if the Cubs don't beat themselves (7 BB's, misplays by Kendall) they'll win today and tomorrow.
  9. Not when it's ended by a game like this. great baseball teams lose 50+ games a year, even to crappy teams. i'll be worried if they play 2 games like this in a row. Exactly, if Zambrano and Lilly throw strikes they'll mow this collective crap called the Giants down.
  10. That's the only way a team as poor as the Giants is going to beat you, if you keep giving them free base runners...
  11. Way to go Will, pitching to Roberts as if he was a Major League Hitter!!!!!!
  12. Seriously!! Just throw a fb right down the middle to Roberts what's he going to do? Hit a HR?
  13. Zito, going into tonight' start had control problems but, of course, the a-hole' a strike throwing machine tonight!!!!
  14. ...and the sucky eye of the home ump. If he calls that a strike (which it was, at least according to Gameday), the inning would've been over. ...or perhaps, the Cubs could get the pure garbage that Feliz is out!!!!
  15. I understand you are frustrated that they added Kendall - I did want him either and would have preferred to give Soto a shot. I agree that we need another bat, hopefully in RF or at SS. However, I think that your statement implies that they have been lucky rather than good. I think this is unfair and untrue. You don't win as many games as they have since June 1 without playing good baseball. Everyone knows there is a bit of chance involved in all sports, but usually you have to do something well in addition to getting breaks. The Cubs have done plenty of that, IMO. Also, this notion that giving up a minor league middle reliever for a guy one year removed from a solid major league season (at least in terms of OBP) and who will cost only $900k is just disengenious. I have seen many folks - you included, IIRC - rail against Hendry for overvaluing middle relievers and not treating them like the fungible commodities they are. Assuming that is true - and I think it is - its a bit hypocritical for you to now blast him for giving up a AA reliever with one-half of a good season to his credit for Kendall. Now, if you look at it in the larger context - trading Barrett for Kendall - I agree it appears to be a loss. That said, Barrett may have worn out his welcome with the Cubs and the players - we will never know. What we do know is that we have not had many problems without him. I'd also note that Kendall is a rental, and Soto may therefore get his shot next season, or could be used to get something we really need - someone who can play RF or SS and hit. Seconded, the cost was nothing exorbitant and if Kendall returns to his career numbers for the last 2+ months - not an impossibility hell, didn't Neifi have a hot 2 months? An OPB of .367 out of the 2 spot (assuming Lou puts him there) with someone who knows the value of hitting behind base runners and setting the table for Lee and Ramirez? - I'll take it.
  16. Me too, that incongruous blob (along with Ray King)...
  17. Hey sorry to get off task here, but I see you live in Holland. Do you happen to know what dates the Tulip festival will be this year? I want to take my wife up there, she's never been. Maybe check out New Holland Brewery as well?
  18. When you continue to fall behind hitters, even to a poor offense team like Washington, your going to get ripped at some point.
  19. Looks like 2006 Marshall - falling behind nearly every hitter, issuing a lot of BB's - is starting to surface.
  20. Just tuned in, Jones in CF? Pie and Pagan recent struggles notwithstanding there's no concievable reason to play Jones.
  21. Hill had a K yesterday on what looked to be a change up of course, it could have been a rolling curve ball that effectively acted like a change up.
  22. Unless it's clear violation of a League Rule there's no way in hell Selig should say squat about a Cubs trade. To me it seems far too convenient, that Mr. Selig (with his office in Milwaukee), former owner of the first place Brewers, would nix a Cubs deal. Moreover, given all the other crap Selig has allowed, see Roger Clemens, it seems far fetched he would disallow the Cubs from taking on revenue.
