    Let me guess, High Fastball or curveball in the dirt? After tonight's 0-4, 3K, not even Dusty "Players Manager" Baker can justify playing him anymore.

    Melodramatic much? Hairston and Hollandsworth should NOT sit until either cools off. A little however, given the recent trend, is there any other way to see it?

    This lineup tonight, playing Patterson, says to me that winning is not Baker' main objective, if it were, well, we know there are many more logical choices. I really starting to believe Baker philosophy is one which views winning as a by product of happy team or one in which players like their manager or something along those lines. We certainly know what his philosophy isn't - putting players in a position which maximizes their chances of success.

    Apparently Patterson going to start tonight, I'm certain, he won't be leading off but, as result of his playing tonight, Perez is most likely going to lead off. Let's see, the Cubs are struggling to score runs, so let’s have Perez, who is arguably worse than Patterson, leading off, that's the solution. I know Baker is the kind of Manager who'll stick with a player thru thick and thin but, a some point winning has to priority one. I'm really starting to believe winning isn't Baker' main focus or goal, if it were, Hairston would be put in CF and the lead off spot on permanent basis and Cedeno would be playing more SS.

    I agree. I want to blame somebody, and it is tempting to blame Walker, but the Cubs were smoking balls all over the park, and the pitching was adequate. It was just a combination of Brad Wilkerson and bad luck, IMO. The first two games of the series, on the other hand....... :evil: Nevertheless, its disappointing to watch the Cubs shoot themselves in the foot and lose to a team that they could have swept with some solid play.

    I believe the next experiment is going to be what we saw today - Hairston, Walker in the 1 and 2 spots. Yes, Walker went 0 for 6 today but, Hairston got on base three times and we all know Walker will hit and get on base.

    They all look good, dude. There not that good, not once in this series have the Cubs offered their best and were flat beaten by Washington, each game was given to them on a silver platter. Mark my words, Washington goes down the tubes in the second half and doesn't make the playoffs.

    I can tell you right now, we are nto a playoff team. Not with this offense. Peoplle are starting to see it the way I've been seeing it since the beginning of the year... not enough on-base ability on this club to have any sort of consistently productive offense. that added to the fact we might have the worst in game manager in baseball. If Hendry doesn't make a deal for someone (Dunn, Huff, Kearns, Kotsay or player X) to get on base ahead of Lee, Burnitz and Ramirez, .500 is the best we're going to see from this team. With some decent OBP ahead of Lee and company, they'll win the WC going away. By the way, I predict Washington is going to be the first half surprise that'll flop in the second half. I used to think it was going to be the White Sox but, they could play .500 in the second half and still win the AL Central.

    In September, when the Cubs have the playoff their playoff spot tied up, Carlos Lee should hit the dirt.

    Let's face it, Borowski is done, you know that, I know that , in fact, of Cubdom knows this, unfortunately, Baker doesn't. The only way Baker won't use Borowski is if he's unavailable, Hendry needs to make this happen by releasing him.

    I believe the ax is going to fall soon, Baker got the vote of confidence the other day in the context of the 2003 Marlins and 2004 Astros, he's not long for the Cubs.

    Is it me or blocked or no blocked shot, was Hinrich clobbered by Arenas on that break away? Too bad the Wizards "wonderful" season will be over in about 5 more games.

    Aye... Althought I just want to say that for me, this is all just a big bonus. There is no way the Bulls can dissapoint me at this point. That's my attitude too. We can win at Washington and bring it back to Chicago for a game 7, but even if we lose, this has been a great season. I did think the Bulls would be good this year, but I didn't honestly think they'd be this good. Next year we should be even better. Give us Curry and Deng back and another year of experience for everyone (plus this playoff experience) and we should be a VERY good team. I hope we can sign Donyell Marshall also. That is my outlook as well....given all their injuries they still made the playoffs with ease, I'm very proud of them. As for the Wizards, beat the Bulls now, while you can, for, in the very near future, you're not going to have much of chance.

    Part of that may be due to him knowing he last to last later in the game, so he's holding back early. He was showing signs of being a decent reliever last year when he knew he was only going to be in for 3 batters at most. Now he has to hold back so he can throw 100 pitches instead of 15. He may never do it, but he has a lot of similarities with the typical failed starter with good stuff who makes it as a reliever. I still can't believe they spent that much time and effort turning him into a reliever and convincing people he could be a good reliever, and then put him back in the spot he's always sucked at. The fifth starter spot could be a problem for a while. Remember Dusty let Estes stink in that role for an entire year. I also agree Dempster good be a good middle inning/set up guy. That is two in a row, goony. I believe Estes was taken down for a few starts nevertheless, how many starts are they going to give Dempster before they realize its a failed experiment? 2? 5? 10? When Dempster starts the Cubs might as well spot the opposition 5 runs, many of us seem to know a Dempster start means the Cubs will down by 5 or more runs within 4 innings. The unfortunate aspect is neither Baker nor Hendry seem to know this...

    Nocioni was fantastic last night, somehow he got under Lebron James' skin and harrased him into a bad shooting night.
