  1. Will Soriano every do anything good with a RISP EVER
  2. Wow, what a potentially crushing blow to Brewers, if I were a Brewer fan I'd be very worried about Sheets as well. A pitcher with good control like Sheets usually doesn't issue as many BB's as he did Tuesday night unless somethings wrong. If still cannot consistently find the plate during his next few starts I suspect the trip to the DL isn't far behind.
  3. The Cards have proven they can win in the past with less talent, where Baker has proven he can screw up a team with more talent. I am becoming more worried about them with every passing day. Still expect them to have a rough stretch soon enough though that will put them back too far. Steve Stone mentioned that pitchers are usually ahead of the hitters in April, once the weather becomes consistently warmer I believe the "magic" of Dave Duncan will wear off. Wellemeyer, Lohse, Looper will all come back down to Earth.
  4. Outside of Sheets/Gallardo, the Brewers don't have the pitching talent to win the division by 5 games (as of right now, neither does the Cubs). IMO, the Brewers bullpen will cost the Brewers alot of games this yr. The Brewers still look like a 85-87 win team, but a team the Cubs should outlast for the division. Additionally the Brewers are pinning their hopes on Mark Prior North - Ben Sheets - we know how well that worked out for the Cubs staff in 2004-06. Those 7 BB's that Sheets issued Monday night have to worry the Brewers, remember when we thought Prior was "back" in '06 yet, he couldn't consistently find the strike zone?
  5. It's nice to see cueto get lit up early by a terrible team Yes it is, nice to see Dusty up to his old tricks with rookies, Votto has a bad game (0-4 last night) and is benched for the punch-less Hatteberg.
  6. I did not see a 4/24 Other Games thread but, Paul Frickin Bako singles in a run as the Reds tie the Astros at 3 in the 2nd. Bako with 7 RBI's on the season, unbelievable.
  7. Yeah, I guess so...
  8. True enough, but, we may have a genuinely good team here, maintaining a disciplined approach is about as slump free as one can get. Hopefully, no more getting dominated by average to poor pitchers such a Doug Davis - who is exhibit A of a pitcher using a hitter' aggression against him.
  9. I was thinking along the same lines, early on, let the Cards beat the Brewers, its a long season and the Cards are a terrible team. Inevitably the Cards will fade into 4th or 5th place but, until then let'em help out the Cubs.
  10. And if that happens what are the odds that there will be a 10 page thread complaining about the Cubs winning too many games so they won't be ready for the playoffs or something like that? > 66.7%
  11. Well, 2 of 3 from the Reds, if Cubs are going to persist with this vs the Pirates and the remainder of the season I think I'll manage to live with .667 ball. It'll be difficult but, I'll adjust.
  12. Seconded, Dusty' only redeeming qualities where he's Single Malt drinker - The Macallan - and some of his post games excuses for veteran players poor performance. Remember last year when he told Jacque Jones got doubled off a 2nd in Arizona because of the thin air?
  13. Thank goodness Derek Lee can hit and field while Ryan Howard can hit but not field.
  14. Ready to watch more Moyer BP fastballs taken for strikes!!!!!
  15. Ready to watch more Moyer BP fastballs taken for strikes!!!!!
  16. Phillies crap now on base two of three at bats...
  17. Is just me or has Aram missed nearly every hanging slider thus far?
  18. Must be that unsure footing thing again...
  19. Let's see if Pie and Fukudome, should they get on base again, realize Jason Kendall is catching. Apparently they thought Johnny Bench was catching for the Brewers yesterday.
  20. I look upon this game as an anomaly rather than the norm; I don't see the Cub bullpen being this bad throughout the season. There is however, one norm - Ryan Theriot really, really, really sucks and should not be leading off - I believe Lou will realize this, it may take a while but, I believe he will.
  21. I'd like to see Kansas State get past USC, assuming Wisconsin advances, it'll be interesting to see what the Badgers can do against Beasley. I'm thinking he'll will have most, if not all, of the Badgers starting front line in foul trouble by halftime and have a couple of them fouled out by the ten minute mark of the 2nd half.
  22. That offers me no consolation. Just makes me sadder. Trailing at the half 5 times all year. Just a painful year of basketball. Thankfully it will be over soon enough. Please let next year bet better. I don't see how it won't be given, in Smith and Legion; they'll be adding players who have important basketball skills, like the ability to successfully shoot the ball. Do you realize that if the Illini shot a rather pedestrian 70% from the free throw line they'd be around 20-8 (took the 54 additional points and came up with 8 more wins) and quite possibly NCAA bound?
  23. Maybe it was that visit to the nudie bar which lead to the twisted testicle...
  24. You're not sure IU will recover? Is that a joke? I didn't word that properly, what I meant is as a result Sampson' actions IU Basketball may be hit with some sanctions and will be down in the near future.
  25. After the Gordon fiasco didn't you mention something about karma one day hitting Sampson right between the eyes? Well, I didn't think it would happen so quickly.
