    Letting Dempster walk and signing Burnett is great move hopefully, Hendry' thinking along the same lines. I don't know if Burnett will be cheaper but, I believe he'll perform better than Dempster.

    Signing Teixeira , who I'm assuming is a type A FA, means a 1st round draft choice for the Angels correct? If so, trading Lee to the Angels effectively gives him and a 1st round draft choice for Teixeira, not to mention saving them a chunk of change beyond 2010 . If the Angels cannot or chose not to sign Teixeira is such a package worth it?

    Say the Cubs sign Tex, move Lee and acquire Roberts, if they go with Pie in CF and Fukedome in RF along with Ramirez, Soto, Theriot and Soriano, that'll give them 4 LHB and 4 RHB. Is that enough balance for you Steve Stone? With such a collection of players, I've got a lineup of: Roberts Theriot Tex Ramirez Soriano Soto Pie Fukedome P Of course, now, problem will be its not L-R down the lineup but, I don't know how to justify moving Pie or Fukedome up the lineup.

    It is not immaterial, because Lee can determine whether he accepts a trade. You are correct, forgot about the NTC.

    Whether Lee is disgruntled or not is immaterial, if moving him means Mark Teixeira becomes a Cub - so long Derek Lee, thanks for years.

    It probably more the Lions ineptness than Orton, but, he did look good and much improved from week 1. Imagine that a Bear quarterback improving with each week, have we ever seen such a thing?

    Is Brian Roberts the answer? Is he worth what the Cubs will have to give up? I don't know but, I do know the Cubs need someone who consistently gets on base ahead the 3,4,5 spots in order. I don't know who that is however, I do know who it isn't - Alfonso Soriano.

    That BS is getting real tiresome for me, wait till next season' playoffs when we'll read and hear crap about how despite being the best team in the 2008 NL they couldn't manage a playoff win, etc.

    In lieu of a Furcal signing I'm wondering if Cedeno should finally be given his chance at SS, I know his baseball IQ is lower Theriot' and he may not hit as well as Theriot. But, he nevertheless, is defensive upgrade over Theriot - go back to Looney hitting that GS in game1. Key hit may have been that infield single by Ramirez, we all knew as soon Theriot fielded it Ramirez was going to beat it out, which he did by less than step. I'm thinking Cedeno throws him out on that play, Looney never hits the GS and who knows.

    As many have said the Cubs have a lot good to above average hitters but, not that one hitter that teams plan around. There isn't anyone who the opposing team views as the hitter they won't let them beat them. Is there a Cub hitter you wouldn't pitch to in a game situation? No.

    First 90-win season since 1992, first playoff appearance since 1982, a great deal of attention from the national media for much of the year, two starters in the All-Star Game, and Ned Yost is gone. Looks like a successful year to me. ;) Really, the Brewers played like the token "Happy to be here" team. It would've been nice to see them win more than one game, but most of the games were fairly close and the pitching staff was in shambles. Gallardo pitched nicely in Game 1 but was hurt by the 3 unearned runs, Sabathia ran out of gas, and they missed Sheets in the rotation dearly -- if he pitches, Suppan doesn't have to start yesterday and the Brewers may have had a better chance at winning. The offense did sputter out, though, which was disappointing to see. So yeah, it may be sad and pathetic, but I'm happy with the way this season went. Hell, at least your Brewers managed to win a game.

    I'm not writing this because they beat the Cubs but, I believe the Phillies will kick the crap out of the Dodgers - Phillies in 5. In the Phillies the Dodgers won't have the benefit of playing a team that's tight as a snare drum missing hanging sliders. Everyone thinks the Dodgers played so well, BS, how many bad pitches did they get away with? In one of Aram at bats Saturday night I saw three hanging sliders he missed - took one for a strike, fouled off the other two.

    Wouldn't surprise me one bit if they kick the crap out the Dodgers. That playing tight, missing hanging slider after hanging slider trick is not going to work with the Phillies.

    Marshall can't go anywhere, especially with Dempster's pending FA status and Rich Hill's head still a mystery. Nevertheless, Marshall does not hold the trade value to bring us anyone of significance to put us over the top. We're better off hanging on to him. Dempster will be re-signed. Marshall has plenty of value as part of a package. I am not saying that Marshall should necessarily be traded, but that I think that they are looking to move him. In my opinion, Marshall has the makings of a solid middle of the rotation starter. He has good stuff and seems to have good composure as well. I just think that Dempster will be brought back and with Marquis still under contract, they will be looking at spare parts that could bring something in return. Marshall's more than solid performance in the postseason definitely increased his trade value. I'd let Dempster walk, he had a magical contract drive year, he's not likely to repeat it. What the hell - go after Sabathia Hendry.

    Liar. They'll never win it. I've wasted 30 years. this loss is much more bitter than all the rest. IMO 2003 was the worst because they were one game away from going to the WS. At least the last two years they showed their true colors early and lost the first 3 to spare us the drama. Exactly 84 and 03 were disappointing. These last two years have been inexcusable. At least those teams were trying to win. I honestly feel robbed by this team. They played emotionless, uninspired, lethargic baseball. You're right, this was inexcusable. Just the opposite, they tried too hard, when your trying to hit a 600 ft HR you miss hanging sliders like Ramirez did all night.

    As long as the Brewers and White Sox stay out. I'm on the ledge as it is. I wouldn't be so certain about that, in the Phillies the Dodgers won't be playing a team tighter than a snare drum. How many hanging sliders did the Cubs miss or take tonight? From Broxton alone I counted 5.

    That's the only attitude or approach for success tonight, with such an approach they'll play better and win.

    Or the Dodgers will continue to clean the Cubs' clock. There would be a run to the bat rack. Harden deserves this start and not to give it to him is a fireable offense. The Dodgers haven't cleaned anyone' clock, I refuse to give them credit beyond not playing as poorly as the Cubs. All they've done is be the beneficiaries of some bad Cub Baseball, nothing more.

    Exactly, there is one thing I've got a pretty strong feeling about - LA better close them out Saturday night. If they allow the Cubs to get one, its going to loosen the Cubs up, they'll play better and LA' will be in for a world of hurt.

Is this like HA, if any team's coming back from 3-0 it's certainly not going to be the cursed Red Sox, and definitely not against the mystique of the Yankees. I've said all along we get swept or we win the series. The bats just have to effin wake the F up. Lou could probably afford to calm his ass down too. I agree, earlier I posted that Lou should get on their asses but, in rethinking, the only approach that may work is Lou telling F*** it, were out anyway, lets just play.
