If he didn't pump 10 times he might have had him by the way, in looking at his minor league stats this Murphy will be probably be not as special as Sutt thinks.

Balls 4 and 5? he should have figured out the ump's strike zone by now How can you figure out a strike zone that's been changing from batter to batter?

The umpiring isn't as bad as getting swept to a team who was 2.5 games behind with 6 games left to play. And Z forgot how to throw strikes again. I belive this is the post Red Flash was looking for. Other guy said that the Twins werent that good. Hey, wait when did I say the Twins were bad, I was making fun of the Sox on a potential choke. I mentioned that the Twins were not all that good, as someone mentioned they've got two great hitters surrounded by a bunch of bad to average hitters. There's something about that blasted dome though. You may have noticed it's a faux baseball field. Doesn't it have those funky seats folded up in LF or RF along with those weird giant fans behind home plate?

They only scratched 3 hits. His stuff was good, I just think Wolf got into his head that 3rd inning. I agree. He'll be fine. I agree as well, just look at that strike two call on Delgado.

They are down 3-1. I'm sure Hawk isn't even announcing. The frustrating part has to be losing to a Twin team that isn't all that good.

That 3-2 might have been ball 4, given his OPB matches his BA and not having the stats in front of me, I'm guessing that would have been his first this season.

I'd love to hear how this is his fault. Would it have killed him to walk out to the mound and calm Z down? I'm not blaming him persay, but he has to keep his pitchers, especially Z, in control. That's part of his job as pitching coach. Seriously, when the Umpire doesn't know what a strike is, what can he do?

Oh man Victor Diaz....that just felt like 13 tons of bricks fell on me. I can still remember the announcer saying "Victor Diaz hasn't hit a home run in the majors...." :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: For me, Victor Diaz was far worse, a much better Cub team (vs 1998) and losing to the Mets - I loathe the Mets. If that franchise was nuked this second it wouldn't bother me a bit...

Cubs will make them sweat before its over, who knows, they may even really kick them in groin by by getting to the bullpen for 5+ runs.

Seconded, Cubs win in 6. Anyone think the Cubs first round opponent is immaterial? That is, their most difficult task is going to be winning the first series, if they clear this hurdle, the WS will be Cub Blue.

I trust our pitcher to shut down a team's offense more than I trust our offense to tee off on really good pitching. Am I alone in this theory? I'm 100% with you, I'd rather face a weaker offense than weaker pitching, because the way good teams vs. good teams usually go, its not typically very high scoring affairs I can honestly see our hitting clogged down to 3-4-5 runs a game, and I just would love to stifle the opposing bats, and not worry about having to get too many runs. What I'm saying is bring on the Dodgers. The whole team is hackers without a lot of power with the very notable exception of Manny. But we do a good job with Pujols most of the time, and I think we can do a decent job with Manny, probably with a lot of intentional unintentional walks. Funny you should have Pujols and Manny within the same paragraph, was watching a little of the Yankees/Orioles last night. Subject of Manny came up and right on queue one the ESPN baseball crew calls him the greatest right handed hitter of the last quarter century. Makes sense, if you were or are a Yankee or Red Sox and put up big time numbers - you must be the greatest. Don't get me wrong Manny numbers are mind boggling but, Pujols' are better. -

I believe the Cubs will manage a split while the Brewers sweep the Pirates, leaving the Brewers and Mets (at least) tied. For those pushing for a wild card playoff I think this is the most favorable result although, I wouldn't mind seeing the predominately Iowa Cubs take 3 of 4 - payback for 2004. -
Beyond clinching by beating the Cardinals, Schumaker walking to the 1B dugout before the Umpire called strike 3 was the best highlight of the day.
