  1. Goodbye and good riddance to this Illini team, we'll see who stays but, really, don't think it matters much who walks.
  2. On script so far. I hate them. They can jettison Mayer to the Moon right now, if I were Underwood I'd bury him on the bench. I'll bet if you asked Underwood if he's done with this team, you'd get a horsefeathers yeah!
  3. Pretty down on this Illini team, such a talented under achieving team, had high hopes this was going to be the one that would finally break the second weekend seal for Underwood. I fully expect them to following script today - get down big early, mount a furious second half comeback and lose by a respectable margin.
  4. We said this last offseason at the same point, then be went DB-DB-KR early in the draft. The way he has absolutely torched the lines on both sides of the ball is concerning He kind of did the same horsefeathers in FA, has a horsefeathers-ton of money to spend, there's fairly good OL and DL options available and what does he do? LB-LB right out of the gate, where are the linemen going to come from, out of thin air, Amazon Prime?
  5. With lack of movement by Poles on OL free agents, I have to think, assuming both are available, we're looking at Paris Johnson or Peter Skoronski at #9. Given what I've read, its 80% Johnson, 20% Skoronski maybe, someone here who knows OL play can suggest who'd be a better fit. I was really hoping for JSN at #9, load up on the offensive weapons, but it appears the Bears are pretty much pigeon-holed into OL at #9. Of course, being constrained to the OL means the Bears will be unable to address the DL on day 1, DL/Edge was thought to be the strength of this draft and here we have Poles unable to tap into this resource.
  6. I don't know, I wouldn't trust Rodgers to follow through, he loves the spotlight but, he's also a [expletive], should he struggle, the New York media will not pull any punches. Wonder if that's on his mind.
  7. I'm getting the same vibes, almost every offensive player he's signed or traded for appears, for their position, to be a good run blocker. I loathe the meathead run the ball, defense approach it's woefully outdated, it will not work in today's NFL and its boring as hell. I agree running is important, most especially having a mobile QB - a Mahomes scramble was key to the Chiefs B win - but you've got to throw the ball to win games. It's puzzling to me that Poles, coming from the Chiefs, is going along such a route. weird thing to say when the shanahan stuff (which is essentially what getsy is running) is all the rage. the extreme run-heavy approach to play-calling last year had more to do with a lack of personnel (WRs, OL) on a tank roster than anything (maybe fields learning the offense too). but yes, they need actual dudes on the OL. I meant the MO of using defense to generate TO's, control TOP by running the ball and not scoring much.

  9. Say Poles goes with one more big signing in Orlando Brown and a middle tier/value at DL, he could load up on offense at #9 (JSN or Johnston). And look to DL, C and CB with the day 2 picks.
  10. If he's that concerned with value, it will be a multi-year tank. There's not going to be good value in free agency. Yeah that's a problem. I don't mind the strategy to build through the draft and to try to find good value in FA, but he is also making win now moves to some degree, he has a massive amount of money to spend, and he just traded away multiple impact defensive players. He is not going to cobble together an adequate defense or OL on value FA signings and midround draft picks. If I were him I'd suck it up and break the bank for an impact player at a huge position of need and then focus on value signings. He has to, didn't he say something about winning teams having 8-10 impact players? Well, here's his chance to sign one or two.
  11. Thinking this as well but, would really like if they took JSN at 9.
  12. Yea, Idk if I'd pit McGlinchy against Brown, I'd love to see them sign both They kind of have to sign multiple OL's, don't know if it'll be McGlinchy and Brown but, I look for Poles to sign 2 possibly 3.
  13. They will not have to worry about Kansas, Arkansas wins comfortably. Something has got to change, I'd really like to see Underwood replace Mayer in the starting lineup with Epps, Mayer has been terrible lately. In fact, I'd go with a bench rotation of Harris, Goode, Rodgers and Mayer.
  14. Wouldn't Poles have sign multiple OL and DL? JSN at #9 completes the WR room.
  15. The polar opposite of Illinois a talented team finally starting to play up to their potential.
  16. Don't know why more teams haven't pressed Purdue more often. Their little guards can't see over the defenders and their big guys don't have good enough handles to help with the clear.
  17. If they were facing a team with a sliver of basketball IQ they might have lost but, not against these horsefeathering idiots.
  18. This Illini team has got to be lowest basketball IQ version I've ever seen, time and time again they keep leaving that Funk clown. Literally all he can do is shot 3's, which he's very good at, nevertheless, these idiots kept leaving him and giving him space. He can't put the ball on the floor, he won't take it to the hoop, why allow him to do the only thing he's capable of?
  19. Did the Illini finally figure they're much taller than Penn State and should maybe look to take them to the hoop?
  20. I loathe Michigan and Dickinson; however, Dickinson is so much more skilled than Edey. Even though he's slow his NBA chances are far greater. Edey is just monstrously big and maybe being so affects one's dexterity. Had Michigan continued to feed him they may have won today, don't understand why they got away from what they did in the first half.
  21. I don't think it would take a 1st round pick, but I don't know. I'd have hard time giving up a first-round pick, I know its Aaron Rodgers and all but, he is 39 going on 40, is nowhere near as mobile as once was thereby, making him more injury prone. Not to mention the big hit to the Jets salary cap, I'm thinking more like a 2/3 round pick?
  22. Picture the sheer number of Bears fans who have gone to their graves thinking this over the last 20 years. Hell, a lot of them probably went out with some version of that as their strangled last words. I will say its damn near impossible to luck into back to back to back HOF QB's. Of course, if would just be the Bears luck if it works out for the horsefeathering Packers AGAIN!
  23. If the Illini who showed up for 20 minutes vs. Purdue or 20 minutes vs. Northwestern could somehow appear for most of the game vs. Penn State, they'll roll over the Nittany Lions. Of course, that has not happened all season, no real reason to think it'll happen Thursday. It'll be interesting to see how Underwood tries to limit Pickett. I noticed towards the end of the game at Penn State Pickett had trouble shooting over Melendez with his long arms. I'd try going at Pickett with Melendez and Rogers, I'd also try going after him on the offensive end, take him inside, post him, he's only 6'2'', try to get him foul trouble.
  24. He'll draw it out if he feels he needs to but I get the impression he really wants to close this out before FA One would think before FA is ideal, that'll allow Poles to zero in on the best DL prospects to be available in round 1. To me appears FA will have more of an offensive lean whereas, the draft more of a defensive lean.
  25. I hope he's using it as motivation to get better instead of blowing it off as racism. There is a lot of racism in there, but he also needs to work on mechanical and strategic components of the position to get him to where he wants to be. I know this, believe Fields does as well.
