  1. I'm beginning to wonder if Mervis is nothing more than a AAAA player - may get sent down, will tear it up in Iowa, get called up and, again, look clueless and feeble, just never able to translate minor league success to the major league level.
  2. What's the point of pulling Rucker now? Is Ross afraid the game is going to get out of hand? Just let the POS finish the inning.
  3. I knew what I wrote was a bit of a fast take but, man, it's frustrating, watching the same soft tossing, sinker-slider pitcher come out the Cubs bullpen.
  4. This bullpen is what angers me the most, Jed said something about finding more guys who can miss bats and get K's. And, what does do? Build a collection of relatively soft tossers, seems every other team is baseball has a least one guy in the bullpen who can bring the heat. Cubs, it appears, don't have someone who can bring the in the heat in their whole horsefeathering system.
  5. It's got to be health related, he can barely throw a strike, 62 pitches, only 35 strikes, I sense a DL stint coming soon.
  6. Upfront, until someone emerges, they're absolute garbage, however, the secondary and linebackers, not so terrible. They may end having one the best defensive backfields in the NFL, they'll have to cover receivers for an infinite amount of time - which probably isn't possible - nevertheless, there will be moments where they'll really shine. And adding anyone who can get to QB along with stuffing the run will make them look that much better. Of course, we'll have to wait for 2024 for any type of impactful upfront defensive help.
  7. As stated earlier it appears Poles is a big believer in the effect strong coverage can have on improving a defense. I can see that, receivers cannot get open as quickly thereby, in theory, allowing your pass rush to get to the QB or something along these lines.
  8. You're probably correct, for what its worth most draft experts believe the Bears did well. Guess my expectations were a bit too high nevertheless, it certainly appears the OL, receiver and running back rooms are significantly improved. There really is no excuse for Fields not to take big step forward in the passing game next season. No more excuses, no more Swiss Cheese turn style at C, no more receivers with hands of stone, it's all on Fields and, to some extent, Getsy.
  9. For such an important draft it's been extraordinarily underwhelming, you'd think Poles might draft like his future with the Bears is at stake.
  10. It's a losing bet, no way they'll be able to cover long enough, it's impossible in today's NFL.
  11. Nor do I, it appears the line is going to be drastically improved, the WR and TE rooms are improved, its set up for Fields to take a major step forward in the passing game. If that doesn't happen and, there's a non-zero chance it may not happen, it's time to start looking for a QB.
  12. That can't be real, who the horsefeathers puts mayonnaise in coffee?
  13. In addition to, for all his reported talent and ability, not exactly dominating on the field. Believe that would be troublesome for most GM's. Maybe he'll be just fine, Eagles have drafted and developed well, but, look at other players. Will Anderson - he backed up all the high ratings, etc. by dominating on the field.
  14. Someone mentioned the Vikings reaction, the Lions was even more obnoxious. Their GM slapping the table, jumping up because he reached twice for a RB and LB both of whom would still be on the board today?
  15. Wright help will help to fill a need, was hoping for JSN. I really believe Carter was never a serious consideration by Poles and he managed to get his player at 10 and another pick for 2024. Jayden Reed will be there day 2 or day 3 to give your a little of what JSN would have brought to the table.
  16. It appears to us the OL is without question priority one, believe it appeared the same way last season. Given what played out I do not believe it lock Poles is going OL at #9, after what he said about DB's and CB's being value or whatever he called it positions. I can't get away from thinking he's going draft whomever is available from Witherspoon, Gonzalez or Porter. Then go heavy OL and DL with next picks.
  17. 30 years of HOF QB play and all the Packers could manage was two SB's this'll be the legacy of Farve and Rodgers. However, I'm certain the Bears, given 30 years of HOF QB play, would have found a way to not win any SB's.
  18. Don't know what this Cubs is but, I do know every permutation of 2023 playoff contenting Cubs does not have Fulmer being leveraged in high pressure situations. Middle inning, mop up fine, but, when you need a big out or outs not a chance. Is his contract guaranteed? I know it's a one year deal, does he have options or can he be released?
  19. I don't believe the Bears were going to draft him at 9, I'm convinced Poles is going to take a DB in the first. Prepare for the gigantic Twitter meltdown after he goes DB with his first pick for the second time.
  20. Thus far, Kings - Warriors has been fun, also like Clippers-Suns. Thinking the Warriors run is done and we'll see a new NBA champion. After beating the Warriors don't know how far the Kings will go, nevertheless, they're fun.
  21. Seems plausible, regarding the scouting doesn't it occur during the whole of the college football season? Once the draft position becomes fairly clear I have to think NFL teams already have a big board in mind - no?
  22. Believe someone mentioned this before nevertheless, 2+ months after the SB is too damn long to wait for the draft. Why such a long wait, somehow money related?
  23. I did enjoy watching Zach take over along with Williams turning up the defensive screws.
  24. Was going to ask about this as well, what's the procedure?
