  1. Getsy or Schrock? Getsy. We've got to see what happens once Poles assembles an OL that'll be able pass block along with a full season of Mooney, Claypool before passing judgement on Getsy. Like it or not he was severely limited with the lack of talent this year. The onus is on Poles, last offseason one could almost justify him punting, this one, he's no excuse or limitations. The McCasky' should seriously consider replacing Poles if he can't put together an NFL caliber roster going into 2023.
  2. Without a doubt the line on both sides of ball is the key, look at the Bears this season. If they were able to pass block, we would not be talking about how the WR's can't get separation conversely, if they were able to rush the QB we would not be talking about how bad Kyler Gordon has been. Last Sunday really didn't think the Lions WR's are all that special but, Goff was given all day on nearly every passing attempt so, sure, they all looked like Pro Bowlers.
  3. I don't see how last night would have any bearing on their decision to play Fields or not. It appeared to an instance of Commotio cordis which is a possibility at any time, don't know if extra padding on the chest plate is a requirement for football shoulder pads. It's a requirement for lacrosse shoulder pads and liners.
  4. Feel bad for UMFan, honestly thought Michigan would win in a walk. It'll be interesting to see if TCU can give Georgia or Ohio State a game on the 9th.
  5. It absolutely sucks however, I think there's enough to repair the OL via FA, WR probably looking at the draft. I'm done with the defense first mentality, despite once again, with his first pick, drafting defense, I don't think Poles' MO is going to be win with defense and running the ball. It's certainly not the MO from where he came, which I believe played a big role in his approach to building a roster. Just so happens the best player in this draft is on defense and the Bears are in position to draft him.
  6. A win knocks them to 4. OK, they probably won't win, don't think we'll have to discuss that possibility.
  7. I agree, strongly believe the Bears should hold on to the pick and draft Anderson. If there's a transforming, immediate impact player in the 2023 draft Anderson is that player. Don't know why but, if they end up at 2, I'm pretty confident Poles will hold on to the pick and draft Anderson. Imagine what Anderson and any kind of a competent FA DL will do for the defense.
  8. Don't see a Bears-Lions thread nevertheless, it's OK with me if the Bears end their losing streak and effectively knock the Lions out of the playoffs. Maybe Justin will lead them to a game winning drive in the last two minutes or something along these lines. Might cost them the second pick however, I believe Anderson and at the very least, Carter will still be there for the Bears at #3. Regardless of how well Gino Smith has done Seattle will still take a QB at #2.
  9. Eh. There's still plenty of good OL available in free agency and the draft. Odds are, he wasn't getting any of those top guys anyway. Jenkins was as likely as any top FA ever gets simply because of Getsy, but that was us fans connecting dots. Poles still has 0 excuse to not build up this OL. And the wiggle room he had this offseason without knowing if he had a franchise QB is gone. If this OL isn't fixed or at least significantly improved in 2023, he probably can't have a job anymore. Justin doesn't need a super massive uptick in pass blocking either, he just needs average pass blocking, its extraordinarily doable. I'd venture to say a full season of Patrick at C is a step in the right direction.
  10. It's got to be discouraging knowing even if you throw a good pass, it's more likely than not to get dropped. I wish he had Arena League WR's, all they do is pass the ball, wouldn't be playing if they couldn't catch the ball.
  11. Well, Schofield went down, had some guy named Rice in there, no NFL caliber WR's, don't think there's a QB in existence who could be overcome or excel in such circumstances.
  12. Why use the time-outs, there's literally no point, whether the Bills get more on the scoreboard or not.
  13. When you're operating under such severe limitations what can you do? Guess, you could at least try...
  14. What the horsefeathers was that?
  15. Was just about to say this. I can only think of 2 downfield pass attempts today. Granted the pass rush has been crushing our line but there’s little dinks and dunks aren’t fooling anyone Doesn't this limit what you can do downfield? I'd rather Justin dumps it off, this game is completely meaningless.
  16. And there you have why this Bears team is not going to win again this season.
  17. Bears traded Santos to the Bills for today.
  18. Nothing surprising or new, we all know their current DL can't get to the QB.
  19. Any kind of pass rush is going to make this Bears' secondary even more effective, why I think they should not pass on Anderson - if he's there at #2 not so certain Houston won't take him at #1.
  20. 2 good kickoffs returns today. I don’t doubt he can contribute as a kick returner but not sure it’s worth a roster spot if he can’t get on the field as a receiver when 3-4 other WRs are hurt. Think you're correct, he'll get some more chances, it's now or never, if continues to cough up the ball, there's a good chance his NFL career is over.
  21. Wait a second, came in late, did Velus Jones Jr. actually do something positive on a KO return? I believe he's got these remaining games and maybe, the preseason, to prove he's worth a roster spot.
  22. Poles has no limitations next offseason, a bounty of resources to get it correct, if there isn't marked improvement on both sides of ball next season. He, without question, should be removed because, if he cannot get it right with that number of resources, he'll never get it right. That's the endless Bears cycle. I can see that, it shouldn't be all that hard to fix things, hell, doesn't take a genius to figure out drafting Will Anderson and signing an impact DL will quite probably fix the defense. Poles should be capable of seeing such moves.
  23. Poles has no limitations next offseason, a bounty of resources to get it correct, if there isn't marked improvement on both sides of ball next season. He, without question, should be removed because, if he cannot get it right with that number of resources, he'll never get it right.
  24. That's exactly what Fields will tell himself as he falls asleep every night of his inevitably shortened, doomed to be stuck behind a Bears OL NFL career. Hey, look on the bright side: Poles has no regrets Given the resources Poles will have in the 2023 offseason there's a real good chance Fields will soon be playing behind a line with NFL talent. While not idiot proof, Poles would have to make a deliberate attempt to horsefeathers up. I'm certain he'll miss on some moves but, I don't believe he'll miss on the majority of moves, as I said, you have to really try to horsefeathers up every move.
  25. If Poles can improve the pass blocking and find an NFL caliber WR, I'm certain Fields will be better than Hurts. Just horsefeathering sucks we've got to endure 3 more games of watching Fields try to succeed with this current collection of scrubs, if the tables were turned and Hurts was the Bears QB he'd be nowhere near any of what Fields has done. Can't the Bears just forfeit the remaining schedule? Many of the currently active Bears are going to be ex-Bears on 1/9 there's really no point in continuing.
