ball = dropped.

Why don't we wait and see what the Twins gave up before we start ripping Hendry again. You know it is possible that Minnesota could put together a better package than us.

Why don't you stop reading things in my post that I didn't write? Where did I rip or even mention Hendry's name?

Tyler was 21 in BA's top 30 last year. Neither had breakout years. Looks comparable to Wuertz and Grant Johnson, or similar.

And we couldn't give up those two to get Castillo? I wonder if something really is wrong with his health. His speed has gone away and the Marlins are giving him up for pretty cheap.

Who were you referring to that dropped the ball? Dusty? I was just assuming since the ball is in Hendry's court, he must have been the one who dropped it. Did I assume wrong?

He does have those leg and hip issues from the past. That turk isn't going to help any.

Haha, but no its not a firesale.

For the teams getting the players, it's great. But this is beyond disgraceful what the Marlins are doing. I know it's for financial reasons, but this is every bit as bad as the firesale before the 1998 season. It is a blackeye to baseball. The only redeeming thing is that the Twins aren't a big market team preying on the Marlins (unlike the Red Sox and Mets). Juan Pierre, your suitcase is packed.

YES

Then I apologize. So who dropped the ball?

Wow...isn't Florida's cupboard about bare now? Does anyone think they'll still get rid of Pierre too? And as a corollary...if the purpose of this is to be able to keep Miggy and Dontrelle in a couple years...wont the fact that the team has NO ONE left serve to drive them away?

On a related note...I'm really anxious for Hendry to do SOMETHING to make this team better. Just cutting/releasing/kicking to the Curb Jose Macias might pacify me for the day...but We better see huge improvement in our CF/RF/Leadoff in the next month or I'm officially going to be moody. (take that Cubs) :D

Athe same time they are picking up pretty good prospects and theoratically will be stacked with good players in 2 years. But realistically, we all know this has everything to do with them leaving Florida or at the very least getting a new stadium.

the NL's version of the Indians. In a couple of years they have the potential to be a very, very dangerous and still very reasonably priced team.

Could one be Justin Jones? I thought the Marlins inquired about him a couple of times when he was a Cub.

I do think this was a missed opportunity. Of all the Marlins players that have or will likely be moved, Castillo was the best option for the Cubs. He can hit well in the one or two hole, get on base, and play stellar defense. He's also the one whose salary is most comensurate with his abilities.

I'm not upset with Hendry for not acquiring him, but I do think we could have matched what Minnesota gave up to get him.

I've been hoping for Castillo ever since I realized that they'll probably move Walker. I'm a little disapointed to see him get away. If we fail to get Furcal, we could now really find ourselves with a Cedeno-Perez MI if Hendry is still so pre-disposed to trading Walker. While I'll reserve judgement until that happens, if it does, I will lose all confindence in Hendry and his philosophy of guys who can catch the ball. In Castillo you could have gotten offense from someone who also can catch the ball.

Completely agree. If we don;t land Furcal we might be in a good amount of trouble.
