Assuming of course the Cubs find a decent lefty power bat to play RF. There are plenty to consider.....

Cliff Floyd

Aubrey Huff

Abreu

Giles

Shawn Green

Ryan Klesko

David Delucci

Carl Everett (with Bradley, probably not a good idea)

Geoff Jenkins

Luis Gonzalez

We'd definitely need a lefty power bat because if Walker and Patterson are gone, we don't have any lefthanded hitters.

I really like the idea of getting Bradley. I'd sacrifice Walker to do it. With Hairston and Cedeno and Perez 3rd on the depth chart to cover 2nd, a speedy, good OBP, decent power guy in CF makes just one more hole to fill (assuming Furcal does sign with the Cubs). Heck, I wouldn't care if Neifi got half the starts at 2nd base as long as he was hitting 8th.

Don't forget about Adam Dunn! My first choice is Abreu, but Dunn is a close second.

Provided that Furcal is signed, I also like the Walker for Bradley trade.

Bradley and Furcal are switch hitters. Another plus at the top of the order.

This is great! Have Cedeno at 2B and Bradley at CF. This would be a pretty good deal.

I still haven't given up hope that we could get Castillo from the Marlins fire-sale.

That would be an amazing IF.

If Jeff Kent, Todd Walker and Nomar end up in the LA infield, LA may want to get rid of a ground ball pitcher like Lowe. :D

Whats his contract look like?

Interesting. I was getting the impression that Bradley could be had for less because the Dodgers were deperate to get rid of him.

I suspect hendry wanted to get rid of walker

Yes, it would.

Imagine if the Cubs signed Furcal 5/50. Trade Walker for Bradley. Sign Encarnacion for RF. Trade Pinto and Cedeno for Castillo.

Furcal SS

Cedeno 2b

Lee 1b

Ramirez 3b

Bradley CF

Encarnacion RF

Murton LF

Barrett C

That line-up could win and it would be very good defensively as well.

His injury concerns worry me. His OBP and D are sexy though.

Ugh, I really dislike Encarnacion. I'd be really concerned that he'd just throw up another 260/320/400 type year. For the money, I really think we could do better.

Also, I'd definitely flip Cedeno and Bradley in your lineup.

It makes me mad the Cubs are so hellbent on trading Todd Walker. He provides unbelievable offensive production at a ridiculously low price tag. Yes, his defense is not good, but I think he's offensive output outweighs that.

I'd say the exact same thing applies to Milton Bradley too.

I disagree. I don't think his bat outweighs his defense. Walker costs the pitching staff extra pitches and has made errors during crucial times of the game (i.e. Nationals at Wrigley). His range and inability to turn a doubleplay effectively is a serious issue. Personally, I'd rather have a solid defensive second baseman with a serviceable bat than one who is lacking defensively.

I agree, but I will say that swapping him for Bradley is probably one of the few Walker trades I could live with. I'd love to have Bradley in CF next year, and if that's who Hendry gets for Walker so be it. I share some poster's hope that Bradley wouldn't cost quite so much, and that Hendry wasn't so intent to get rid of Walker. But given the fact that Hendry now views defense the way he viewed team chemistry last year, a Walker for Bradley swap seems to be about the best outcome we could hope for.

Seconded. I was expecting less.

I would like to see Walker saved for a slightly better deal. With all of the talk out of LA wanting to dump this guy shouldnt we be able to pull reverse sammy and give them a hairston package to basically take bradley off of their hands? Then use Walker to procure a top tier RF such as Dunn, Abreu, etc. A walker/williams package along with a prospect or two should be a very nice trade package.

Me too. Lowered expectations are depressing. I can live with a Walker for Bradley if that's how it all unfolds.

I had predicted early on that Walker would be used as trade bait to snag a quality middle reliever. But with the Howry and Eyre signings, it now makes a lot of sense that Walker would be moved for CF/RF.

I could live with Bradley. Not a big fan, and it is a gamble to assume he reverses a negative trend on the field and off, but it opens up 2B for Ronny Cedeno to play everyday.
