If Pierre is in the fold I'm hoping Hendry goes to back to Nomar and offers him a one year deal at 4.0 million with incentives. Then uses Walker along with Patterson and others to get an impact bat.

Use the left over cash on A.J Burnett who I get the feeling with Dempster, Pierre, Lee, Rothschild, Hughes all being with the Cubs will be Hendrys under the radar target after he gets Manny , Dunn, Abreu.

Oh boy, the Score says they "don't know why the Cubs don't bring Jeromy back" ....

Bwahhaaahhhaaahhaa

Hopefully this means they're wrong about the Pierre deal. Pinto may be our best pitching commodity in the minors, as he's got great stuff, isn't constantly injured (a la Guzman), and is relatively close to the bigs. To give him AND two other prospects up for an overpriced, potentially awful Juan Pierre coming off of a bad season for 1 year is absolutely ridiculous.

It still depends on who they are. I'd hate to give Pinto up, because he is close and healthy, but I still rate Hill and Marshall higher from the left side. But if the Cubs give up a couple of players with no future, it's a decent deal, depending on Pierre getting back to 2004 numbers.

A lot depends on who the hypothetical two other players are, but trading Pinto to the Marlins gives me heartburn.

You aren't the only one, Serena. :|

20/20 update: Cubs are also working on getting a hold of Juan Pierre..

Thats it? Nothing else?

Yup... I'm gonna go watch Family Guy and miss the 40 update.

I hate to give up Pinto, but as long as the other minor leaguers aren't Harvey or Dopirak, I can probably live with it.

I'd rather Castillo than Pierre, but I also wanted Dotel over Howry, so apparently the Cubs have little concern of my feelings this offseason.

Weird. They did that to me last year.

Losing pinto would kinda suck since I dont like Pierre that much.

Thats all I have to add to this conversation.

I'd prefer losing Pinto over losing Marshall or Hill.

I'd prefer not trading any of them for Pierre. In fact, I'd prefer not trading anyone for Pierre.

Would you rather trade for Pierre at his salary for one year or overpay Furcal for multiple years?

If we get Giles, and then trade for A-Rod and put him at short, and then trade for Michael Young and stick him back at 2B, I'm all in favor of having Corey back in the 8 hole.

Hell, put him 9th if Wood, Prior, or Z is pitching.

My guess is that we'll do both.
