Four times, CPatt?

I hate USC more than anyone here, but that seemed excessive. :D

EDIT: Fine, try to delete the evidence. :P

Hey, don't you wish that more people knew there was a delete function and how it works?

How exactly does it work. Sometimes I can delete a double post, and other times it won't let me.

as long as it's the last post in a thread, you can delete it.

Makes sense. Thanks!

The score of the UCLA-USC game should resemble the score of a college basketball game.

Is that next weekend, or in two weeks?

Two weekends, Dec. 3.

I don't know who I will root for in that. I guess it depends on how next weekend plays out. But for now...Go Bruins :D

I think USC proved that a team with a very goood defense could beat them. Here's hoping Penn State gets a chance to prove that

Unfortunately for PSU, I think LSU (provided they win out) would jump them if Texas or USC stumbled. That would be due to the lack of a Big 10 championship game, and would make your earlier fears come true.

If the Fresno State coach calls a different play than a post into double coverage, they might have had a chance to tie at the end. That was a fantastic game.

Looks like ND and OSU have to sit back and hope for no conference title upsets. We'll already have WVa or S. Florida eating up one BCS bid, and if Florida St. or the Big XII North winner upset and get auto bids, that would be 3 of the 8 BCS bids go to teams not in the BCS Top 12. Then you add PSU, USC, Texas and the SEC champ, and someone is going to be left out in the cold. And if Oregon goes 10-1, I don't see how you could fit a 2-loss team into the formula.

Here is what I think the new BCS SHOULD look like (not what it will look like):

1. USC

2. Texas

3. Penn State

4. LSU

5. Virginia Tech

6. Ohio State

7. Oregon

8. Miami

9. Notre Dame

10. Alabama

I am not saying this is fair, but as long as a team is eligible record really becomes meaningless. The teams that bring the most money will get the bids. IMO ND will go no matter what happens, if they win next week. The only thing that will keep them out is the top 4 rule, and that may come into effect if a Big XII north team upsets and USC loses to UCLA, moving PSU and LSU into 1 & 2, but even then it is not very likely. Teams that may deserve it more could get screwed. It is not fair, but it is the business aspect taking over.

And if, in the end, it's about business, then the BCS is an even bigger farce than previously imagined

I would agree with you on that.

1, 2 and top 12 are the only numbers that matter.

Would it be boring to just say

"Here is what happens in each bowl:

Rose Bowl: 1 vs. 2 regardless of conference

Orange Bowl: ACC champ vs. Big 10 champ

Fiesta Bowl: SEC Champv vs. Big 12 champ/At-Large

Sugar Bowl: Big East vs. Pac 10 Champ/At-Large

Or something like that, rotating each year.

CuseCub, I have a question for you. I was reading a Syracuse message board today and stumbled upon this.

We stuck around after the game to see ND's tradition of having the players stand in front of the students while the band played. They played the fight song and alma mater. Then the entire band just turns around, faces the SU sideline and breaks into our fight song. It sounded great actually having a full band play it. I thought it was a very classy and awesome tradition.

Does Syracuse not have a band? This quote kind of confused me.

Also anyone interested in reading it, it talks about the classiness of ND

Wow, Ohio State behind ND. Two 2-loss teams ahead of Oregon, four 2-loss teams ahead of UCLA.

Lame

If record is all that matters why even let anyone vote? Why not just rank them all by record, with SOS being the tie breaker between the same records?

If record is so insignificant, why keep score? We'll just let everyone play for the length of a game, and at the end of the season we'll let people vote to determine which of the 117 teams was the best.

That's not what I meant and we both know that. Record is not irrelevant, but there's more to a team than won/loss record. How they got to that won/loss record is also important. And UCLA got crushed by Arizona, who was a bad team this season. Oregon is a good team, but I would have no worries taking OSU or ND to beat them.

Sadly, I think record can be irrelevant, or at least less relevant than it ought to be. Case in point, preseason polls. Tennessee as National Champs anyone? Purdue? At least the BCS waits until after week 6.....
