So, I want Dunn. And apparently so does Hendry (along w/ kearns). What are the chances of them actually trading anybody (mainly dunn) this offseason. Especially to a division rival.

Also, has anyone read/heard anything about hendry contacting cincy (recently)?

Matt Murton, Felix Pie, Rich Hill and Todd Wellemeyer to the Reds for Dunn and Kearns. Reds can give Pie an additional year of AAA seasoning and go with a Murton, Griffey, Pena OF for 2006. Hill immediately joins Cincy's woeful rotation, and Wellemeyer would be a useful middle reliever for them. And of course, the Reds get salary relief, with Dunn due a big raise in arbitration.

Why would Cincinnati do it? Because their pitching is miserably bad, with no help on the horizon from the minors. They are finally coming to realize that they must address their pitching, and their extra OF-ers are the only trading chips they have to get it done. Regardless of whether the help comes from in the division or not.

If the Reds wanted another starting pitcher, something like Mitre or JK Ryu instead of Wellemeyer, I'd certainly accomodate that, too.

Why move Murton? I really like him, but in my view, Murton and Kearns is a straight and fair swap, and Kearns has the advantage of being able to play RF. If you're going to add Dunn, he can only play LF, making Murton expendable.

All wishful thinking of course, Hendry doesn't have the vision, and the Reds don't have the gumption, to make it happen.

CIN will move Dunn and Kearns seperately. It's the best way to maximize their trade value.

Is Dan O'Brien still their GM after the change in ownership?

A new GM would hopefully have the smarts to start dealing their offensive talent in exchange for some pitching.

The new Reds ownership group is made up of minority Cards owners, Castellini and the two brothers, can't remember the name of the brothers.

I know everyone gets tight in the pants at the thought of Adam Dunn, but there's no way he gets traded to the Cubs, not without trading the whole farm for him and Hendry (wisely) wouldn't do that.

I'll change my name to DouchebagMagee if Dunn is traded to the Cubs.

I agree. Let them keep Kearns in the above proposal, and we'll keep Murton. I like Kearns, but I like Murton more...

The real question for me is, is there any way to get Adam Dunn off thier hands without giving up Pie. This assuming the reds gm would even think about trading dunn within the division.

Sure, we'd just have to give up Pinto and Hill, probably.

Why do people want to trade Murton? I get upset any time I hear this. Let him PRODUCE BIG for US. Let's keep a guy who will be only getting $300k - $500 and let Cubs be the one who are getting more production for the money.

Double the motivation!

You can hold me to that too.

This may well be my favorite NSBB wager of all time.
