Adam I do remember hearing it was Rutgers. I think the three Big East teams will often be Rutgers, Louisville and WV. At least those are the three I would schedule.

As for my comment about Navy, the reason I'd be disappointed at a non-rout over the Middies is because I do not think Weis will let the Irish forget about Navy. The times Navy has posed a threat to NDin recent years:

1997 - Rossum pushes the Navy receiver out at the one on the last second play to preserve the win.

1999 - The fortunate spot on 4th down. If the refs don't mess that up the streak ends.

2002 - Comeback win. Irish were on a hangover after losing to BC.

2003 - DJ Fitzpatrick FG. ND was just plain bad.

I bring those up because they were all Davie and Willingham. Navy never seems to pose a threat to us when there's a competent coach at the helm, and I don't think they'll have any problems. It's not like they have a good opponent next week to look ahead to.

2000 was the blocked FG year, and it was Airforce, not Navy. I got that wrong earlier.

2002 was no hangover, IMO. It was a bad ND team being exposed after starting 8-0 on pure luck.

NU Vs OSU. Northwesterns offense might do well against the bucks. OSU had trouble with Michigan State's spread offense, they didnt stop the run well and drew stanton had open guys throughout the game. OSU might be looking ahead to the Michigan game as well.

If Northwestern plays like they did the past two weeks, the final will be about 45-10. The offensive line has gone from a pleasant surprise to complete shambles and the success in the air against Michigan State and Purdue has led to a mediocre running game at best over the past month. They've gotten away from the things that made them a good team, so I'd be completely shocked if they win in Columbus for the first time in 34 years. It also doesn't help that Basanez is coming off his worst game of the season.

Then again, they don't exactly have much to lose (a loss means relatively nothing as long as they beat Illinois on the road to close the year) and have played their best game on the road. But with terrible special teams, it's going to take a heck of a lot from the defense to keep them in the game.

Senior Day at Faurot Field, Mizzou needs one more win to be bowl eligible, and in all likelihood clinch 2nd place in the B12 North. Hopefully Baylor continues to slide, and Brad Smith can go out with a bang.

I have a feeling we need to win out to make a bowl game, but personally I hope we win just so Brad can go out at Faurot with a W. He's done so much for this organization that to me a last W at home for Brad Smith is more important than a subpar bowl game. However if we win, next week I'll be singing a different tune.

You should probably switch

Arizona St. @ (14) UCLA

with

Kansas @ (2) Texas

KU should have beaten them last year. We got jobbed by the officials. We also have the 5th best defense in the country, and they have the potential to keep us in games.

That said, the opening line was 35 points. I expect KU to keep it closer than that.

Yeah, I think there was bad PI called or one that should've been called. That 4th and 18 conversion by Vince Young was silly, though. He's unbelievable. I think Texas wins in a rout, but I'm a big Mangino fan. Wish he was still at OU.

37-10 Texas is my guess. Hopefully they'll look past us to A&M, and we can make a game of it.

Yeah, I highly doubt ku will make a game of it, no matter how good you think your defense is. Texas has trounced every single team theyve played this year, and beat a very, very good team in Ohio State (whose two losses, by the way, are to Penn State and Texas). I will be shocked if Texas doesn't continue doing what it has done to every team its played this year: just absolutely destroy them. And it doesn't matter how good your defense is, with your offense and the Longhorns defense, its gonna be a long day for the hawks.

I just found this out. The order of selection for the Bowls this year is Orange, Fiesta, the Sugar.

With that being the order and Texas/USC likely playing in the Rose, PSU will probably get into the Orange Bowl against Miami if they win the ACC, and ND will go to the Fiesta Bowl against who, I don't know.

I was really hoping for a ND/PSU bowl, but it may not happen.

I hope youre right. It would be nice to go to a bowl game for Brad in his last year. I still think both Alden and Pinkel should be fired, along with Christiansen (sp?). How you can run an offense without being under center ever is just mind boggling to me.

That would be a hell of a good game. Was the last time those two teams played in the early 90's in the snow game?

Not sure if anyone noticed this, but two computer polls have PSU ahead of USC.

Yes, and PSU is #3 overall by the computers, ahead of Bama and Miami

One last second touchdown pass away from being undefeated. Thats too bad, cause I actually like Penn State, although Northwestern probably should have beaten them...

God forbid PSU play Miami. I hate Miami, and it's a great game in concept, but I think the Lions would get "Hokied" in the Orange Bowl

The Snow Bowl was indeed the last game between ND and Penn State. I was only six but I vaguely remember watching that game and my whole house flipping out when Mirer hit Reggie Brooks (his 4th option on that play) for the winning two-pointer. What a game that was.

Well it would be pretty cool to see those two traditional powers match up against each other. Not only because I think it would be a great game, but because it would be good to see two traditional powers back in the BCS spotlight.

I have a poster that was given to me while at a luncheon hosted by the now infamous QB Club. It is a side view of this shot which is now framed and will never be taken down. My GF and I went rounds about the poster when we moved in together.

Those were two crappy teams that played that day. I never would have believed that we'd likely finish with a Big Ten record above .500 and Penn State would be talking BCS.

Yeah, I go to Mizzou, but Im still pretty pumped up about Northwestern this year. Unbelievable win on Saturday, and what made it even better was it was against the Hawkeyes. It made me very happy.

Had PSU lost that game (to NU) they probably would've finished 7-4 or 6-5. I really believe that

That's an awesome picture adam.

Here is another one from the end of the half with the score tied. IMO that is one of the best football games ever played (that I can remember watching)

Yeah, that USC/ND game was most likely the greatest regular season game of all time. I consider myself very lucky that I got to go. The atmosphere was electric and everyone was pumped. It won't be like that again...

until Notre Dame's in the 2006 national title game

And had Northwestern won it, I thought they would have done no better than 4-7 or 5-6. To me, that was their best shot at winning a Big Ten game this year.

It's hard for me to dislike Iowa (mainly b/c they're not Michigan or Ohio State), but it was such a big, big win. They should go 1-1 the rest of the way on the road against Ohio State and Illinois, but the Sun Bowl isn't out of the question. If they go to the Music City Bowl, though, it should give them their best shot at winning their second ever bowl game.

Derwood, hows Penn States quarterback for next season gonna be? I see that Robinson is a senior, does State have anyone good for next season?

I agree that it was one of the best. However ND/FSU in 93, the before mentioned PSU game, 88 ND/Miami all rank right next to that game IMO. I think ND/Miami is probably the best-better than the recent USC game. Same circumstances, same day (oct 15), but ND won-and they won the NC that year.

I was there for that one. Absolutely terrifying, and the day I lost all faith in Bob Davie. 4th down for ND with about 8 seconds left. Rather than having Powlus(or a better idea, a QB with some mobility) run backwards then around in circles for 10 seconds, he has Powlus take the snap, step back about 4 yards, and DOWN IT WITH A SECOND LEFT.
