Maybe the new GM (already speculating that Pat Gillick is set to return) will have enough sense to Hire Dusty Baker. :P

Wow, I had heard the rumors flying (fueled by the LA Times, who seems to hate DePo) but thought they'd give DePo some time before firing him.

Do you have news we don't? I agree that he is a candidate, but so are three other guys according to that article.

 

On topic, strange move by McCourt. Two years isn't enough for a GM to build a team to his specifications and be accurately judged on the job he did.

 

However, I serioulsy doubt this firing results in Dusty coming to LA, though I would be overjoyed if he was managing the Dodgers next season.

I've been hearing rumors out here of Orel as manager and Gillick as GM. The fact that DePo didn't meet with Orel didn't sit well with McCourt and Lasorda, apparently.

DePo is officially gone. Whoever steps in is bound to succeed. If they don't, they don't deserve to be a GM ever again. That farm system is beyond stocked with talent...and their major league club isn't bad either, when healthy.
