I just have this feeling that we've ruined our window of opportunity, and we aren't going to have a chance for many, many more years.

Pessimism is flowing through me. I just don't think we are "next".

:( :(

Talk me off the ledge!

Jump!! the depressing part for me is that I think we would have gotten spanked as well. I am happy for the Sox and S. Chicago.

The best of the NL has stunk up the field for a second year in a row.

One must root against evil, wherever it may lie.

The most evil entity in the 2005 World Series, by far, was Lance Berkman.

Reinsdorf, Guillen, AJ, Buerhle, Hawk, Bernie Mac ...

BTW, is everyone sick of people who make say "Red Sox in 2004, White Sox in 2005, Cubs in 2006?"

Maybe I'm upset about it because I know the Cubs and they won't come through... :(

I'm going to take a bath with my toaster.

You realize that your little dancing banana is what EVERY Sox fan uses over at WhiteSoxInteractive, right?

I've been using it for long time, but point taken. maybe I do need one that's a little more appropriate for the occasion.

Is there one that shows a corn stalk falling asleep in his still-running car, with a hose snaked from the exhaust pipe through the window and a half-finished handle of cheap vodka spilling onto the passenger seat?

Yeah but you need Premium to get it. :D

I know alot of people are feeling like :x  , and I know I should feel like :-& , but I'm not. We need to stop feeling pity for oneself, and say.....hey the White Sox 15 minutes of fame is over and they will back to being the "other" team in Chicago. It's going tobe rough for the next 4 months, but hey.....the WSox winning the series is a blessing in disguise. Let them gloat, but remember they'd STILL have to play at maybe the worst stadium (The Cell) in baseball, and the worst part of Chicago, so that's got to bring a little :) to your face.

Im just so depressed because I really don't have the same faith right now that the Cubs will win the World Series next year. I just dont have it. I usually go into seasons thinking this is the Cubs year. I just dont feel that way right now. Maybe itll change, and I really hope it does, because I want to feel what Sox fans get to feel right now.

as embarassing as this was, i was so wasted that the split second after the final out, i sat down in the middle of a bar and cried WHYYYYY ITS NOT FAAAAAAAAAAAIR ITS NOT FAIIIIIIIIIR, jesus the cubs will be the death of me

Look at the bright side guys. If the Cubs did win it all, you'd never be able to share in the fun on NSBB, because the thousands of people on the BB would completely blow up the server.

It would take a day or two to get all the \:D/ posts in once they got NSBB back online. :D

If the cubs ever win, I won't be coming here, I'll be waaaay too busy partying.

Yea, a day passing, only makes it more frustrating and depressing. If you knew the number of brand new Sox crap that is up here in Madison, WI, it would make you puke.

The part that sucks, is I have zero faith in Dusty, and no faith in having things fall our way.

Oh well, sorry to bring northsidebaseball down with this thread.

I agree, I would come on here later that night after a long night celebrating, but I would be gone at first if it ever happened.

Indignity of all indignities, this debacle went down on my birthday. As a youngster I mused that my late-October birthday could easily fall on the day the Cubs finally win it all ... as an adult, I'm convinced that the baseball Gods despise the Cubs in general, and me in particular.

When the Cubs moved past the Braves in 2003, I partied like crazy for two days, not bothering to let my wife know where I was. I assumed that she would just know and understand.

BeerHere + Cubs first playoff series in my lifetime + BeerBuddies = a whole lot of partying.

Needless to day, I'm still paying for that to this day. She was furious and almost called the cops. BeerBuddies were in similar trouble but I think I had it a little worse as we were newly weds.

Anyway, if the Cubs win the World Series in my lifetime, I'm buying everyone drinks at the CubbieBear. BeerWife will be with me, and we're not going home for a few days.

Time will eventually fade my sour mood, and the renewal that springtime brings will eventually refill my cubbie coolaid.

More than anything, I want my dad to celebrate a world series title with me. He's 74 and a bigger cub fan than I and was around for the collapse in 69 and the futility of the decades before. He deserves a chance to celebrate our favorite teams world series title.

Even reading this thread is angering me.

The Sox won the WS.

Jimmy crack corn.

This doesn't change anything. At least in the process they humiliated a division rival perhaps ruining their best pitcher (Lidge) in the process. At least they got it over with quickly.

The only real damage the Sox have done is reinforced the idiotic notion that smallball is a good idea. Hopefully enough people noticed that the Astros also tried to play smallball and their offense looked anemic doing so.

Posted
Let's not forget that the Sox scored most of their runs via extra-base hits, almost half of them coming directly via the home run. The Sox were not really any more small ball than any other team, they just marketed themselves as such. How many so-called small ball teams have seven 15-homer guys in the lineup?

UPDATE:

So now I feel worse, because I had to make the obligatory congratulatory phone calls to all my White Sox fans.

Someone torture me more. I need it.

I did the same yesterday. Then, for fun I decided to gouge out my eyes with a rusty hypodermic needle.

It hasn't been a good few days for BeerHere.

After congratulating my Sox-fan-friends, I relaxed by going to the dentist and having a root canal done without anesthetic. Ahhhhh, it's all good!

My local weatherman is a Cub fan, and he greeted the disaster that was the World Series in the same manner as most of us here.

Bill Meck[/url]"]What a horrible, rotten, icky, stinky, depressing day. I know you expect me to be the eternal optimist, the little ray of sunshine. But today, that is exceedingly difficult as the worst thing has happened. The white sox won the World Series. What have I done to the baseball gods to deserve this. They grant me the blessing of being a Cub fan, with all the trials and tribulations that go with that, and then they do this...the white sox. Oh well, there is always next year (for the 35th time).
