It does pain me to say it, but I can't help it. They've had a hell of a season and deserve it. 4 complete games to top it off.

As a Chicagoan, I've always said it's pathetic that the third largest city in the country can't develop winners let alone consistent winners outside of the Bulls for those 6 championships. It would be hypocritical of me to now say it's not good for the city that they White Sox won the pennant. Ouch.

We'll see what happens in the Series. If they face the Cardinals I think I route for the Sox. If it's the Stros I may root for Houston. Regardless, go Cubs, get ready for next year.

It's not good for the city if the Sox win. It's good for the 10 percent of the city that likes the South Siders, but it isn't good for the city as a whole.

The Sox are a good team. They earned it. But I'm still rooting against them no matter who wins the NLCS. And I'm probably not watching the Series. Because I know the Sox will win and I won't be able to watch them break the Chicago drought first.

I will never root for this classless organization. The White Sox are a good team, but I cannot bring myself to congratulate them. Anyone else think Ozzie's management of the pitching staff will come back to bite them?

I agree that Ozzie's handling of the pitching staff could come back to hut them. But who knows with the way they are playing, it seems like nothing will stop them. The players just seem ready.

Congrats White Sox. Your fans still annoy me, but you deserve it. I'll root for ya if the Cardinals win the NL pennant.

No, because bad luck doesn't happen to this team. It hasn't all year and it isn't going to now. The Sox will probably just throw four more complete games and sweep HOU/STL.

No, because every time I think something logical stuff turns out the opposite.

Kudos to Ozzie. His use of his pitchers in this series was exemplary. nobody deserves to win more than the White Sox and their wonderful fans.

Hate them as much as you want, but they won the friggin pennant. Something our team hasn't been able to do it....... (can't type it)

Sox fans drive me nuts, most that I know are pains. But for the one's that are true baseball fans (I do know a couple) they should revel. I'm already sick thinking about the games at Wrigley next year against the Sox and the crap their fans will be talking.

But even when I want to hate the fans, their management, etc, I've got to give props to the team. And Konerko, AJ, Rowand, Buerhle...some of those guys are hard nosed good players, and they deserve it. Just wish it was in a different uniform.

Call it luck, and it probably has a lot to do with it, but they are COASTING through the playoffs. It's really hard for me to envision them losing the World Series. Kinda like how you just knew the Red Sox were gonna dominate the Cardinals last year...it looks a lot like that for the White Sox right now.

Lots of sour grapes in this thread.

The White Sox have played phenomenal baseball for most of the season. When they were down, they responded as well as any team could have.

I'm a huge Cubs fan and I've never lived in Chicago so my perspective on things is obviously a little different. I still don't think it's too much to tip your cap to them.

I dislike Reinsdorf as much as any owner (backing Krause over MJ and Phil for so many years will do that) but I don't see what's so inherently unlikeable about their players and isn't that it ultimately comes down to?

Sure, some of their fans will rub our faces in the dirt over it. But it's intellectually dishonest, in my estimation, to assume many Cubs fans wouldn't do the same if positions were reversed--not Cubs fans that would frequent this forum but they're out there.

I'm rooting for the Sox in the Series.

I can't bring myself to say congrats. I willingly said it when they clinched the central, but not now. Not after watching the ALCS & seeing how many breaks they got. Even if it was luck in addition to their 'greatness,' I can't say congrats. :(

Astros are coasting through the NL too. Made quick work of more balanced teams then the White Sox have to face. Astros in 6. They are a better pitched team and the White Sox will struggle in Houston.

I think if you offer congrats to Sox fans before they get a chance to let you hear about it, it will make things go a lot smoother.

If they can feel you getting enraged about it, it'll make things worse for you and more fun for them.

Me? I'm apathetic. They won. I figured they'd win after Game 3. Its no shock.

And like Rocket, I don't think they're gonna lose in the Series. I'd like to see it, but I just dont' think its going to happen.

I always figured I'd be pissed off if the Sox were in the World Series before the Cubs, but like you, I'm happy to report that I still just don't care. It doesn't matter what the Sox do or don't do, it's just like they don't exist.

I'm probably more upset because of the way they play baseball. Their fans and the fact that they're rivals make it much worse, but the main reason I hate that they've advanced is the same reason as if the Nationals had made it thus far. They aren't the most talented team, and they play a stupid brand of baseball that gets celebrated because of their flukish success.

I wish the Cubs could play this brand of baseball well enough to make it to the World Series.

I am NOT advocating small ball, but if the Cubs went that route, and made it to the WS, then hooray hooray!

I agree that I'd take it any way I get it, but when it's not us then it really upsets me because it gets celebrated.

I poo on the Sox. I poo on all three teams left. It's weird, but after seeing some of the umping in the last few games I almost find myself cheering for the Cards since they seem to be on the worst of it from the last three teams involved (with the Angels obviously being the ones that the umps hated the most.).
