Holy crap, Kansas has the fattest coach I have ever seen.

Yes he is quite large. Sorry bout PSU Truffle. From what I hear it was a hell of a game; not to mention controversial from what I've read on hear. There schedule is pretty easy from here out though, right? Pretty good chance at winning the Big 10?

The last game at Michigan State is worrisome. The other games (at Illinois, vs. Purdue, vs. Wisconsin) should be won.

Apparently Derrick Williams' season may be over too. I don't think PSU recovers from this one - 1-3 the rest of the way, and then either blown out by a good opponent in a bowl game, or upset by a weak opponent.

Yep, it's a 3 way tie for the Big 10 right now, but PSU still plays Wisconsin at home. The only thing that could screw things up is if both Penn State and Iowa win out (or win the same # of conference games) as they don't play eachother this season.

As for the replayed PSU pass, A) It WAS incomplete and B) They should have ran to the line and spiked the ball to make sure the replay couldn't happen. That's poor coaching.

The spots were definitely bad. But I don't think I ever thought "that is really going to cost us". Penn State went up 4 with 50 or so seconds to go, and just had to keep them out of the end zone. Didn't happen. No one to blame at that point but themselves.

I don't think today's loss was a season breaker by any stretch. They played really tough, and I don't think they have anything to hang their heads about. I see them routing Illinois to build up confidence, and then have the crowd back on their side for the two home games. At worst I think they split the remaining 4, which still puts them at 8-3, which is about 4 games better than any of us expected.

Heres a question:

Giving how things played out for ND how far do you see them dropping? I can't see them losing much ground since they did lose on the last play to the #1 team. Anyone else feel the same way?

You're talking about the reviewed play that was overturned - they got the call right and I have no problem with that. The play I have a really big problem with was Michigan's 17 yard pass to Avant when his heel was clearly out of bounds on the replay. They had at least as much time to review that upstairs as they did with the Golden catch, and yet there was no booth review. That gave Michigan one-third of way towards a TD, and it wasn't merited. If you're going to use replay, then get it right. Otherwise, just scrap the whole system.

Illinois fans, if they have good memories, can attest to the home-field advantage in Michigan. In 2000, with Illinois leading and driving for the upset, Illinois' Rocky Harvey lost the ball upon hitting the ground, but the play was ruled a fumble. The replays also showed that Harvey appeared to get the ball back, but it was awarded to Michigan anyway. Then on the resulting drive, Michigan's Anthony Thomas clearly fumbled the ball while still upright, but he was ruled down. It honestly was about the worst referee work I have ever seen. For whatever reason, most teams in the Big 10 can tell horror stories about the refereeing they've run into at the Big House.

My predictions are for Penn State to lose to Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan State, and beat Purdont. That will probably put them in the Sun Bowl or Motor City bowl or something like that, and then they'll lose the bowl game.

Three horrible spots that gave Michigan first downs on third down plays, including two where they eventually went on to score. One horrible spot against Penn State that forced them to kick a field goal instead of continuing a drive. A failure to review 1) a questionable fumble in the 4th quarter and 2) a 17-yard sideline pass with 40 seconds left in the game, leaving both of them in Michigan's favor when they should have been overturned. Lloyd Carr whining and getting two extra decisive seconds when he didn't deserve them, and not using replay to do it. Missing an obvious block in the back on Breaston's big return with 50 seconds left (watch the replay, right after Connor misses him).

Screwed, screwed, screwed. At the Big House. Again.

I agree, don't see them falling farther than 15th. They can easily run the table and put themselves in line for a BCS bowl.

Haha, I heard UCLA won in OT after looking like poop most of the game - being down 21 in the second half and down 17 in the 4th quarter. :) Wish I had Tivo'd the game

And I saw Leinart scramble in on the jumbotron at Angel Stadium, good to see Notre Dame lose. :)

The end of the first half for the Spartans is one of the most embarassing plays I've ever enjoyed. John L. Smith is a tool for that MAJOR blunder.

What a game in Columbia.

Mizzou puts up a quick 14 off two defensive touchdowns early.

Iowa State answers back with 24 straight points.

Down 10 with under 7 minutes to go, starting senior quarterback Brad Smith leaves with an injury.

True freshman Chase Daniel comes in and leads the offense downfield for a FG with 5:05 left to make it 24-17.

Defense gets a big stop with just under 3 minutes to go.

Chase Daniel runs the 2 minute drill to perfection, throwing a touchdown pass to Sean Coffey with 20 minutes to go to force OT.

Defense out there first, have their best defensive stand of the year, forcing 3 and done and a missed FG, offense gets a first down, centers it, kicks the GW.

Unbelievable game. Just like that, Mizzou is only 3 wins away from a bowl game.

Not only that, but they're in a 3 way tie for the Big 12 North lead, with a game against one of those teams(Nebraska) at home next week. If Mizzou can get a big win and KU pulls an upset we'll find ourselves all alone atop the north.

If this team loses to Illinois then they deserve the worst bowl ever against someone like Eastern Michigan. I can't possibly see that happening.

I dunno. Daniel was so impressive, but I don't think you can keep Smith off the field that much if he's healthy, he's just too much of a weapon, even if his accuracy and game management aren't top notch. I guess we'll have to wait and find out if Smith is even healthy to play next week, and go from there. Either way, it's a good problem to have.

Great effort yesterday by my Hoosiers. Good comeback, down 3 middle of the 4th. But not enough gas in the tank. IU is 1 year away from a bowl game. Hoeppner is creating a QB haven. With the success Rothlisberger is having in the NFL, and the success of the passing game this season, the recruiting should get a boost especially on the offensive side.

Oh and by the way, James Hardy is the best 2-sport athlete in the nation!

If I wasn't dying to see USC beat UCLA by 3 scores before, I am now. UCLA has got to be the most overrated top-10 team I've seen all year.

We've been winning ugly the last 3 weeks and it's bound to end sometime, but I'll enjoy this now. Thank goodness we don't play Oregon this year. Personally, I think UCLA has as good a shot as ever to beat USC this year. It's the Oregon States and Arizona States that worry me right now.

But you must give some credit to UCLA (especially Karl Dorrell, Drew Olson and Mo Drew) for getting UCLA to comeback despite being down late in the 4th quarter in each of their last 3 games.

Winning ugly won OSU a championship a few years ago. Doesn't matter how you win, as long as you do.

Alabama is going to miss Tyrone Prothro at WR a bit more than I anticipated. Prothro seemed to make the big plays at crucial moments, and no one stepped up this week for Bama although they still came from behind to beat Ole Miss. I'm guessing they are going to lose at least one to either Tennessee, LSU, or Auburn.

Auburn won as expected over Arkansas 34-17, but their sophomore QB Brandon Cox threw two first half interceptions that led to Arkansas scores. Cox is the only real question mark for the Tigers, and they will continue to win unless he loses games for them. If Cox will throw the ball away instead of forcing super high risk passes, then Auburn could win the remainder of their games. BTW, watch their right tackle Marcus McNeil (6-9 340) if you have the opportunity. He's dominant on the OL, and I think he'll end up being a top 10 pick in next year's draft. Auburn still has big games against LSU, Georgia, and Alabama.

Here is great article on the USC game last night. Gave me goosebumps A few things I didn't know: Leinart and Bush both cried after the game, Bush it was their biggest victory yet. Weis went into USC locker room after the game to congratulate them. Great game and a lot of class by both programs (except bush slowing down when he broke free, which he apologized for)
