Unsurprisingly, it seems the only people who want the sox to win are living outside of chicago.

I'm not sure if anybody even outside of Chicago wants them to win.

I'm a Cardinal fan, and I'm rooting for the Red Sox.

As painful as it would be, I'd probably go Cards too. At least we know they are a talented bunch. The White Sox are a bunch of overachieving misfits. I know they had the best AL record, but player for player, would you not overall take Cards players over Sox players? I'd reluctantly tip my hat to a talented Cards team, then look to knock them off next year. Sox are a joke.

You could look at it that either way one of them loses. Either the Cards get all the way and lose AGAIN or the Sox have this wonderfull season, get there for the first time in however long and can't close the deal.

It's win-win...or lose-lose...whatever.

If it's Cards - White Sox, I'll root for the Cards. They're a good organization and I'd much rather see them win it than the Sox, who are represented oh so well by Ozzie Guillen.

The final four teams coule be the Cards, Astros, White Sox, and Yankees. Yuck!

i have no problems rooting for the yankees in that scenario

I wouldn't watch. Not one pitch. Did the same thing in 2003.

To the best of my knowledge there was no World Series in 2003.

See, I keep telling everybody that but they insist there was one.

I'd root for the Taliban if they were playing the Cards, White Sox or Astros.

IMHO, simply for practical reasons you have to root for the Sox if you care about the Cubs. A Sox title will make losing all the more embarassing for the Cubs next year, which is another way of saying it will motivate them to win, and it makes Baker's and Hendry's jobs less secure if they keep producing crappy results.

I don't buy the argument that if the Sox win, then the pressure is on the Cubs. The fan base will still be there and the argument can be made that other franchises (like Cleveland, Houston, and San Franscisco) also haven't had great success in the span of time when the Cubs became the Lovable Losers. Simply put, a Sox win won't motivate any more than a Yankee win or Cards win. It will just provide plenty of headaches and nauseating tributes to Ozzie Guillen. :(

Gotta root for the Cards. Cards fans are good-natured, for the most part. Sox fans are, well, awful, for the most part.

Except you Jabroni, you sexy, sexy man.

I would root for the Sox because I still don't feel like there is a strong baseball rivalry between us and the Sox. The rivalry is for the city's attention, it just seems like something entirely insignificant compared to the Cards rivalry which is more like one city versus another, etc.

After watching the last few games, can anyone imagine what a travesty a Padres-Red Sox WS would be? Two of the sloppiest, most disspirited teams I can remember being in the postseason in a long time.

I dislike the Cardinals more than the White Sox, BUT, it would be less tolerable for the White Sox to win. I'd have to hear it from the few White Sox friends I have, from my boss, from the media... ugh. Awful.

And of course, I want the first Chicago WS title in forever to be a Cubs celebration.

For me, my team isn't in the playoffs, and that's that.

I have found myself regarding the White Sox as being in another city, because there's simply nothing there for me to care about. I don't like the team's fans, I don't like their players, and I cannot stand their management. I don't want them to win.

St Louis, however, has a really good team with only one guy whom I would consider to be a complete tool, with a really good front office, but obnoxious fans.

If that WS happened (WS/StL), I'd probably root for St Louis, because there is more for me to respect there. If the WS win, I'll be jealous, but it won't kill me. I won't like listening to the shirtless masses of Sox fans yammer on about it, but in the end, I just care about the Cubs winning. This is my team.

Not down here in central Illinois, the Tard fans are mostly smug and condescending. The Sox fans are nonexistant. If they both get in I'd like to see the Cards get swept again, and make it 0-2 against the Red/White Sox.

you gotta root for the sox! They are chicago! The cards are EVIL. Their fans are cool? They are obnoxious! REALLY obnoxious!

How could anyone root for the cards over the sox? Think of the sox as your brother, you don't like him much, but if anyone bad mouths him watch out. The cards are like the rich kid down the street who won't play with you because you mom dresses you funny.

ANd yes, if the Sox won I would appreciate having the cubs brass be forced to watch that parade.

Interesting. I see the Sox as our evil twin.

Go Red Sox, go Yankees, go Cards. Whatever the hell it takes to end this crap.

Does anybody really think that Cubs management would try harder after seeing the Red Sox and White Sox win the WS? I seriously doubt Hendry is sitting there thinking 'Well I could get this guy who could put us over the top, let me see... have the Sox won the World Series recently? Yeah? Well I better get him then.'

Nor will I want the Cubs to win the WS any more than I already do just because of a recent Sox championship. Any die-hard fan will want them to win just as much in 2006 as they did in 2004. Any 'Wrigley atmosphere' fan won't care.

A World Series featuring division rivals St. Louis Cardinals vs. city rival White Sox. I honestly don't know who I would root for as I despise both teams pretty much equally, and making it (or winning for that matter) to the WS will result in much torment from the fans of both teams. However, being a native Chicagoan, I suppose I'd have to root for the hometown team even though it would make my stomach turn.

What say you?

Pray for a ANA/ATL series.
