And to think that if Northwestern didn't have the soon-to-be 117th ranked defense and a completely incompetent red zone offense coming into today, we'd be in first place. Scary...

What a great game at the Rose Bowl.

While I'm sure no one really cares, my BSU Cardinals just finished outlasting Western Michigan 60-57 in FIVE overtimes, ending the Broncos' three game win streak. No Bottom 10 this week, baby!!!!! In fact we have a puncher's chance of winning the MAC West division! :)

Do OTs not factor into defensive rankings, 'cause you might've saved us from being ranked 117th in defense. Depending on the yardage, of course.

I think they do factor in because they factor in offensively. What does it matter if you're 117th or 116th though? There are 119 teams so you won't be last either way.

Florida International and Floriday Atlantic don't count (they're under "reclassifying/provisional"), so it's out of 117. Of course, I forgot about Rice. They didn't exactly do too well today.

I wrote to some PSU fans that I hope they enjoy losing to OSU. Gotta give the devil their due. Penn State played tremendous defense. Both offenses were awful and that was a clutch play at the end on Troy Smith.

Congrats Penn State Fans, you should be very proud of the effort set forth tonight.

No shame in losing to the better team tonight.

Man OSU and Penn D's are just killing the Offense of each team.

Both of the offenses in this game set football back a century.

Until Smith and Robinson learn to use their playmakers to their advantage and get the ball in their hands (Wiliams, Ginn, Holmes, etc.) with room to run, they will continue to look bad.

Yet another down year for the Big (can't count past) Ten.

Down year? They're probably the deepest conference in the country.

Unbelieveable game... the spirit of everybody in the tailgate (with the 50 degree weather and drizzle) was awesome, and I have never seen Beaver Stadium like that. I literally feared for my limbs at a couple of points - one, they closed off two of the main gates in the senior entrance and people started really shoving for the two gates that were still open - soccer rampage, anyone? The second time was when we went up to take our legally purchased seats in the student section and were told that it was full.... that didn't go over well since there were probably a good 1000 people trying to get up there. The level that you walk up the tunnel to was very overcrowded and a couple of people needed medical attention. I broke up at least one would-be fight and the whole situation was dangerous.... poor job by the stadium staff in general.

Once we got out of there and found a good place to watch the game, it was an absolute blast. My two friends were very much against the conservative approach by the PSU offense in the 4th quarter, but I was all for it. Clearly, each defense was better than the opposing offense. The way I saw it, make OSU's offense go 70+ yards to even the score against us... don't let Robinson make a mistake that can give OSU a chance for a short field.

Great stand at the end... it was wonderful to see PSU win a game over that good of a team in this type of setting. The atmosphere was electric and for the first time since I arrived at PSU, I can actually mention the letters B, C, and S without it being a pipe dream.

Ugh, ASU lost 31-17 to Oregon.

Wow, I really did not see that result coming. Must have been a huge post-USC hangover. Also, I was shocked by the Michigan loss against Minnesota.

I watched the Penn State Football Story today and it gave me chills... what a game. For all the press that AJ Hawk gets, Paul Posluszny might be just as good. I hope he doesn't head to the NFL after this year... he'd likely be a first round pick.
