getting pitchers from the braves is never a good sign, but hey, i would have taken a bag of baseballs for hollandsworth, considering murton will hopefully start the majority of the games in september now. if he platoons with macias, i'm not going to be happy.

I am of the opinion that we should release Macias right now and stock up with kids on our roster. Baker would kill himself if he cant user any veterans hahaha.

i love the fact that this takes away from dusty's toybox. getting rid of neifi and macias would probably be enough to make him resign, haha.

I don't. The Cubs have as good as scouting as the Braves. The Cubs didn't pick up these guys because they like them, or the Braves sold them a bag of goods, the Cubs pick the guys as ORGANIZATIONAL players, that's all. Getting Murton more playing time, and taking another "veteran" away from Baker is ALL Hendry was trying to do here, not find a "gem." So stop thinking the Cubs don't have a good scouting, because they do. This was a crap for crap deal.

I agree. My point is, let the kid play were he's comfortable and see what he can do. You just don't know how the offseason will shape up, so don't try to get the kid to get acquainted in the MLs and switch his position at the same time. That's silly. Let him play SS.

Wow, what a thread. Hendry actually manages to get not one but two still breathing human beings in exchange for Todd Hollandsworth and much of the reaction in this thread is filled with venom.

 

I realize it has been a disappointing season, but can't we at least celebrate the small successes like this one when they come along?

 

This is a thread of about what Hendry got in return for Todd Hollandsworth and many of the posts are about Baker and Macias. Lets keep responses topic specific please. If you want to vent about Baker, thats fine, just do it in the appropriate topic.

Its not as miraculous as trading Todd Hundley for Grudzielanek and Karros, but getting anyone for Hollandsworth is worthy of a pat on the back.
