    Beautiful thread. There was no one else like Sammy. He was an original. Cubs baseball was much more exciting with him. Anyone remember that Sammy homer in Houston to left field hit around the light tower and disappeared into the mist.

    Man I was just watchin this Sportcentury program with the 98 homerun race, an dI realized h wmuch i missed those days. Nothing else was like seeing Sammy make solid contact. It was a beautiful thing. I dont miss the Sammy of today, but I miss seeing him play in his prime. There have been many players better,but regardless of his flaws (roids, strikeouts, whatever), Sammy is still my favorite player of all time. He's the reason I started watchin the Cubs back when I was 14. Anyone else miss Sammy?
