Alright..I didn't see another thread dedicated to this, and I was suprisingly entertained by baseball again yesterday..although it was a product of 11 and 12 year olds. My pick to win from the US without question is the West Oahu Little League team from Ewa Beach, Hawaii. Has anyone seen this team play?...talk about murderers' row. And this team has at least two pitchers that can heave the ball up there over 70 mph which translates into about the same amount of time a major leaguer has to hit the ball when a pitcher is throwing 95+ mph.

Vance,

I did see a miraculous comeback yesterday by your beloved Lafayette, LA team. They're 2-0....not too shabby. Is anyone else watching coverage?

Watching the game on ESPN right now....did they just say there is a guy on Hawaii's team that is 6'5 and 230 pounds and is only 12?

I'm going with the Buena Vista team, from California. I've only seen a few of the teams play, but the California team seems to have quite a bit of pop, and they've got the pitcher (can't remember his name) who struck out 18 batters in 6 innings.

Yeah, the California team and the Florida team in the finals is my bet.

I don't think they said he was 6'5 230...but he is 5'5 and 150 or somewhere close to that.

The Cali team is a good prediction, but the kid that JoshIQ is alluding to hasn't pitched a full game yet. He has started both games at pitcher for the Hawaii team and pitched the first inning in each striking out 6 for 6. This kid has major gas, and he also hit a homerun yesterday. In fact, this team had back to back HR's yesterday and the kid I've mentioned wasn't even part of the production in that inning. At least three kids hit HR's for the Hawaii team yesterday. Cali vs. Hawaii may be a great matchup. I'm sticking with my prediction though. Hawaii all the way.....no offense to the Lafayette team, Vance.

You sure about that? Because they showed a picture of him and then all of a sudden a kid from the Japan team jumps out from behind him. They have a little sign that says the kid from Japan is 4'10. You seriously can't see the kid behind the tall kid from Hawaii. Maybe the guy I'm talking about isn't from Hawaii?

Oh, and I'm sure that most of you missed the Hawaii game yesterday b/c they were playing the same time that the Cubs were playing. I'm proud to say that I made the correct decision. ....they said that the Hawaiin "braintrust" has made the decision to start this kid every game and take him off the mound after the first until they meet a formidable opponent. That way, he gets work and stays sharp but keeps his pitching eligibility for the next game.

Alright..here's what I found. The kid from Hawaii that I'm talking about is Alaka’i Aglipay. Here's the story from yesterday's game:

http://www.littleleague.org/series/2005divisions/llbb/gamestories/21sunday/game11/game11.htm

Oh, btw...i wasn't able to find height and weight for these players, but I know for certain that Aglipay is close to the dimensions that I posted earlier...so Josh IQ, you must have been talking about someone else. Watch Aglipay though...he's dominant on the mound and at the plate.

Maitland Florida led by the pitching and hitting of Dante Bichette, Jr. The kid swings for the fences just like the old man, except he connects a lot more often. Barely made it to the WS, could be a team of destiny.

Hey, so I believe that the Florida team led by Bichette Jr. is playing the Hawaiian team that I've been endorsing right now on ESPN. Can anyone tell me the score of that game? I'd hate to think that I've been talking up this team WHILE they are getting slammed by Florida. Thanks in advance.

There was a player who was 6'5'' 230 lbs from the Transamerica team, which I believe is a team in Saudi Arabia or something. I saw it on ESPN when they played Japan.

Hawaii beat Florida 10-0 today. Aglipay pitched the complete game shutout. Bichette, Jr. did his part though going 2-2 for the Florida team. It looks like the Hawaiian team will have the next two days off and then play again on Thursday....They'll be playing the second place team in the Pool B which will be the loser of the Lafayette, LA/Vista, CA game.... There is a 6'5" 225 1B on the Saudi Arabia team, who wears a size 18 shoe. It's on ESPN 2 right now.

He's the tallest little leaguer by far.

Take a look at their SP, he's tall with a lot of baby fat.

At first glance, I thought he was Sidney Ponson.

Can anyone believe the pitches some of these kids are throwing? Breaking ball after slider after breaking ball. No wonder TJ surgery is so common nowadays.
