Pat Hughes just said it's probably going to be a long rain delay. Well this frees up some of my afternoon now at least.

I work at 3, so I'm going to miss the whole game AGAIN.

Stupid rain.

Huh. Dusty puts probably the best possible lineup on the field.

Switch Lawton over to RF and put Murton in LF and then we'd have the best possible lineup. But this one isn't bad either.

You're right of course. I was conceding that probably will never happen under Dusty, though.

Edit: Stupid Rain.

Darnit. And I don't know if I work at 5 or 6...

he didn't really specify, but judging by his voice, i would say at least an hour or more. He said there were some pretty dark clouds above Wrigley and the rain showed no signs of stopping.

How -- there's barely anything on the radar besides that small cell?

Perhaps they postpone the game and have a five game series at Wrigley in early September? :D

Unlikely, although who knows?

Well, the Cubs and Cards do have an off day on September 19th, right after a 4-game series vs. the Cards at Wrigley. The Cardinals only have to travel to Cincinnati for Tuesday, and the Cubs would just be going up to Milwaukee. Making up today's game on the 19th wouldn't be the worst tragedy in the world.

While I'm kind of bummed about not seeing the game, a rain out wouldn't break my heart. Williams would be skipped, and it would be Prior vs. Matty Mo on ESPN tomorrow. Sure would be nice if the Cubs clobbered the Cards on national TV for ONCE - double treat because it would put Joe Morgan's knickers in a twist! :D

While it wouldn't surprise me if they skip Williams, I doubt the Cards would skip Carp. So (if canceled) tomorrow would be Prior v. Carpenter.

Bring it. :D (that is, if Good Prior and the Cub bats show up)

it's only 1:25. Why would they postpone a game they could easily get in?

Also, how would a 5 game series benefit the Cubs? Should they pull a rabbit out and get back into the race, the last thing we would want is a lost day off...

Um, they got clobbered in the WS and all of those games were on National TV.

Yeah, but it's not the same unless the CUBS do it. The WS was sweet, but it kinda felt like your big brother kicked the crap out of the bully for you - get it?

Fox says that it's lightening up, and they hope to get it started in 45 min. Interesting thing is if they don't get it in soon, Fox would probably have to dump it and there would be no TV coverage.

If the game gets in, I doubt my local Fox coverage (New Hampshire) will pick it up :(

Oh well, I'll watch the Cubs go for the sweep on ESPN tomorrow

I doubt the guys down here in Louisiana will show it either. That means I'll have to listen to Pat and Ron call the action.
