baker has never been questioned as a person, he really is genuinely a nice guy, but that article is a complete joke.

a quote from the article

Are his tactical skills lacking? Sometimes, but not to the point of being the story of the season or of his stay in Chicago.

By sometimes do you mean game in and game out rick? If we are a team victim of injuries, then how come the cardinals are the best team in the NL even with their injury woes.

This seasons faults mainly are put on bakers shoulders BECAUSE, of his idiocy as a manager. From his misuse of pitchers, to his failure to use deserving rookies over the likes of jose macias, neifi perez, and todd hollandsworth, show me that he is unfit to manage this team, fire dusty baker A.S.A.P

Here's a bottom-line question: Whom could the Cubs get who is better than Baker? Here's the bottom-line answer: Nobody.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

If you think that article was really something, wait until you see the one in the latest issue of SI. My copy came Friday. They give a lot of play to Baker's son (the human shield) Darren.

It's because of stupid articles such as that one, along with other reasons, I am not renewing my subscription.

Hmm...let me see....Fredi Gonzalez, Larry Dierker, Tony Pena, Rene Lacheman, the list goes on....

The "College of Coaches" would be better than Baker.

Well lets see. The Braves have had massive injury problems. Ooops. They're first in their division. Same with the Cards.

Cedeno is dead from riding the pine I think.

This guy wrote that he hoped I would hurry up and get my cancer back and die so the Cubs could get a real manager," Baker said
Wow. That's unbelievable. Some fans don't know where to draw the line.

Hahaha. I checked it out....

Here is the real reason the cubs aren't winning:

DARREN ON EVALUATING PERSONNEL: I tell my father which players to trade. My favorites on PlayStation are D-Lee, Pedro Martinez, Derek Jeter, Lance Berkman, Johnny Damon, David Ortiz and Michael Barrett.

I would love to see them publish his name, he deserves whatever would come to him. Unfortunately, he's not alone in his hatred, he's just the dumb one signing his name. I would hope they turn over the hate mail and death threats to the FBI.

Hmm.... I read the article about Baker's cancer. From the information in that article, and my own experience as a cancer survivor, I would say Baker has beaten that one. So the person who wrote that hate filled note is ignorant about how often cancer can be cured as well as being a jerk.

Ah well, my dad once told me that 90% of the people I would have to deal with would turn out to be SOBs; I think he may have had the percentage about right.

And to Serena, thanks for the welcome. I have been a lurker here for a long time. Seems to be a lot of good folks and lively discussions here.

When the season's over, and I have had a chance to calm down some more, I'll share why I left another discussion board; and no, it wasn't associated with Cubs.com. Let's just leave it at that.

I think somebody needs to get a life. There's being a fan (Fanatic) and there is plain and simply some who just don't have a clue.

This upset me for a couple of reasons as I was reading it this morning:

First of all, as I think we have all agreed on, that was a ridiculous thing to say and has no place in sports, or for that matter, anywhere.

But perhaps more importantly, it portrays those of us who would prefer another manager to Dusty (and I know, that's an understatement) as ignorant. It makes it seem like everyone who wants Dusty out does not have a valid reason, because here's a 'fan' who was a moron about it.

The fact is, we do have a lot of valid points which need to be heard that the column seemed to skip over, such as the fact that Dusty had 2 awful OBP hitters batting 1-2 for much of the season, which had little to do with injury.

It was just very frustrating.
