Ridiculous.

EDIT: In addition to Krueger, 2 others were fired from the station. The program director and the morning show producer were fired.

The morning show producer was fired following a morning show bit. On OTL, Felipe Alou called Krueger A MESSENGER OF SATAN. The morning show then did a bit with sound clips of South Park's satan mixed in.

I wonder if there will be a public outcry towards Alou calling Krueger a messenger of satan?? Nah...

im pretty sure they had no choice to fire them after morning show comedy routine they did. what the heck could they have possibly been thinking?

Were these firings really catalyzed by the racial remarks or does the Alou family have a mysterious secret power that sends those critical of them straight to the unemployment line? (see Steve Stone last year)

:-k

Yeah...I guess the racial remarks are what did it this time...Krueger crossed the line.

If you're stupid enough to bring up race in an insult on your radio show that thousands of people hear, you deserve to be canned.

Alou is obviously implying that the White man is the devil. He must be fired.

Seriously though, is that much different than the logical leap that led to Cream of Wheat being deemed offensive?

So its not ok for a white guy to diss caribbean players, but it is ok for Dusty, a black man, to diss white players. OK, whatever.

It's a smaller leap.

I don't understand why the South Park satan bit causes the firing? Are they not to mock ridiculous statements by Alou anymore out of fear of being fired? If this same thing happened in Chicago, it'd be ridiculous and chalk it up to Dusty's thin skin. Just cause Alou's a grumpy old man, and you haven't had to deal with his IQ of white rice decision-making(NOT CALLING HIM UNCLE BEN, JUST SAYING HE'S REALLY DUMB) in person, he gets a free pass and can say whatever off the wall thing he wants and not be held accountable?

It's absurd. The comment didn't have anythign whatsoever to do with Race. It's taken totally out of context and blown WAY out of proportion.

If anything he was adding in a comment that Alou has his "favorite players" just like Dusty does... be they carribiean, black, or just "his boys."

It's bad baseball, racist on their part, and they should be held accountable.

They were clearly in trouble from the beginning because of the comments. Even if they felt they'd done nothing wrong, they knew they were in trouble. SO WHY DO A COMEDY BIT ABOUT THE SITUATION? They probably just wanted to look like martyrs or something.

But the guys who did the comedy bit weren't Krueger. It was a different guy that had nothing to do with the Krueger situation. They weren't already in trouble. They did a comedy bit about a quote that was absolutely ludicrous. Seems par for the course.

sorry about that.

either way, it's moronic to go near this and make fun of it if you work for the station which has already come out and said these comments were wrong.

They got what they deserved. Totally justified. Look, on this site you can't attack others, so why is it okay for people on the radio to do it? Entertainment value? Hardly, this was the station that broadcasts the Giants games, they have a right to protect that investment. These clowns thought they were funny, maybe they can stand on the wharf and entertain people with their routine. They have the right to free speech, just not a right to do it on the employers dime.

The shock type style is entertaining to a segment of the audience, but sponsors, teams and management of stations also have a responsibility to others in the audience who don't find that type of style entertaining.

I really do not get how the Cream of Wheat thing is construed as racism. He just said the guy's brain turned into mush. And come on, we remember that eight-pitcher game against the Cubs. Is it that far off? But seriously. There's no way it can be tied in with a black guy on the box, unless he said "We have a manager whose brain has turned into Cream Of Wheat, who, following his realization of this fact, cut his skull open, grabbed a spoon, and scooped his brain out to serve to small white children for their breakfast. It was delicious." And even that's not so much racist as it is just...weird

What do you think should happen to Felipe for his comments?

I think he should be laughed at. What a mess the Giants are. One of the worst GM's in baseball, one of the worst managers, their best player used steroids and can't play, and they're in fourth place in the worst division in baseball.
