If I ever want to show my kids what it was like to be a fan of the Cubs in the mid-naughts, I'd show them a tape of this inning.

And why the hell are balls in the middle of the strikezone being called balls - is this really happening or is it sportlsline sucking?

It's happening. DeMuth's terrible behind home plate.

And now Neifi makes a terrible defensive play.

Come to think of it, what was Lee doing? Why did he stretch so early? Bad play by both guys to cost the team a run.

terrible pitch.

nice inning Jerome.

make up your mind Aram.

god aweful baseball to this point.

Todd, throw the ball

Neifi, plenty of time to plant.

Well it happened to Tejada too, so I'm not blaming the ump.

Are you a run away from leaving the game thread?

I don't think so. I'm feeling the false hope of the Cubs scoring 5 runs this inning.

So does Baker stick with JW, or bring in Rusch?

Why are you guys still watching? Im telling you just be a good guy and show your girlfriend/wife a good time cause this is only going to make you mad.

This team is unbelievable. Every time they pull out a win like last night, and it looks like they might take off, they go back to just being the same old Cubs.

Man our defense really sucks :o .

I'll look closer, but I don't recall DeMuth missing much. And that 3-0 strike Williams got with the bases loaded was definitely up and away. Got a break there.

I was going to forewarn the board to not expect any breaks from DeMuth.

for the most part, all the veteran umpires hose the Cubs on a regular basis. one of the best things that ever happened to the organization was the umpires strike and subsequent firing.

I'll stick around. Thanks

Blueheart, I gotta hand it to you, you're a nice Cubs fan.

I've turned into an evil, pessimistic creature, to which I don't think I can ever be human again.

Are you kidding? JW goes back out (that's what I would do). 3 runs at this point of the game is not huge. He has time to regain his composure. He has only 37 pitches.

I've counted about three or four pitches so far in this game from both pitchers that looked pretty good, but called balls.

yes Moises, because the Umps are out to get ONLY the Cubs. It has nothing to do with us just plain sucking.

But as Bob said, that's how DeMuth calls the game. Small zone. Walker got a borderline high pitch called a strike on him, but it seems Williams has gotten a few more calls (especially since the Phillies aren't chasing as many pitches...).
