Boy the server is lagging. Like, everyone is on Transactions.

Anyway, I guess we'll have to wait a while to see if this trade if beneficial.

Meh, I was hoping for a bigger move than Lawton, like Dunn. Lawton is decent, but nothing special IMO. There could be another move, but it's unlikely. I'm dissapointed.

We have to remember to turn avatars and sigs off on these boards in the future on big days such as the trade deadline, because with so many people trying to post the forum databases are acting up. Turning the sigs and avatars off would allow a lot of cleared bandwidth for people to post and navigate through threads without seeing "Critical database error" after every click. Maybe if an admin sees this post right now they could turn avatars and sigs off?

Anyways, not sure what will become of the two Lawton threads (this one and the Buster Olney reporting). Whether they merge or lock one or do whatever is fine with me...

I'm still anxious to see what we gave up.

Funny, I thought a guy like Lawton with a .382 OBP and a decnt speed/power combo would be fully embraced by this board.

ESPN confirming - but not saying for whom, yet. Gerut is still playing, so it wasn't him.

Farnsworth is going to Atlanta.

It still could be for Gerut. I believe until the paperwork is finalized a player can still play for the original team like Gonzo still playing the day we got Nomar. If this is true and it's a deal of Lawton for Gerut, I think we got the better of the Pirates yet again.

Might want to wait before more than 5 people respond before gauging the board's consensus.

Depends on what the Cubs gave up for him. If it's just Gerut, I can dig it.

Yeah, I was calling for the Cubs to trade for Lawton last night. I thought he was the perfect fit for what the Cubs needed and wouldn't cost the Cubs a top prospect.

I was very excited to see the banner across the screen on ESPNews that the Cubs had got him. Still no info on who they gave up. That, of course, will have a lot to do with whether or not we consider this a good trade.

One rumor had stated that Gerut would go to Pittsburgh. If thats the case, the Cubs gave up Dubois for a rent-a-player.

Interestingly, Cubs.com has just posted an article stating that the Cubs were "quiet" at the deadline.

I sure hope Lawton can avoid his annual second-half slump. Can he play center? If so, I would keep Murton in left and start Lawton in center and lead him off.

I think its a great trade at this point. We couldn't land a big bat, but we got a player that we needed and could be vital to the Wild Card run.

Of course, it all depends on who we gave up.
