Well then we need a Sticky thread with the weekly BCS poll of posters. Gives us something to strive for as posters, and would probably increase the quality of posts from those who aim to be "important" members of this site.

IMHO, all members of the NSBB community are important. I personally feel that message board communities tend to put too much stock in things such as post counts. A quality poster is a quality poster based on the quality posts, not the number of posts. Some of my favorite posters on this site have fewer than 2,000 posts, and many of that group have fewer than 1,000.

I know, but sometimes it's fun to know where you stand. Maybe a "poster of the week" each week?

The next thing you know Borgie will be re-enlisting and leaving again.

No knock on him, he was an informed poster and I liked most of his posts but, What did happen?

Maybe not postER of the week, but a post of the week would be cool. Then we can archive them in a seperate forum. Would be a cool forum to browse from time to time

I agree with UMFan.

And being a mod would be too cool for words. :P This is pretty much my favorite website, that's why I spend every waking minute of my life here!

And about a post of the week thread...

Do it. DO it. DO it.

I think one of you guys who supports "post of the week" out to just make the first poll in the Polls Forum.

It might not be as fun as hot chick polls, but it could help keep us occuppied during the offseason.

A 'testing the water' thing? It would also bring attention to good/interesting/useful/funny posts people may have missed - and, as has been suggested, if there's an archive, new members could get a good flavour of some of the things that go on here using that, rather than a trawl through the boards.

Actually the secret is quite simple. You make a sacrifice to Modzilla, and if he/she/it likes it, you're a moderator. On the other hand, if Modzilla doesn't like your sacrifice, well, just think Bermuda Triangle. :D

I sacrificed Enrique Wilson, but Modzilla wasn't pleased for some reason. Tough to impress him/her.

Oh well, my dream of being a moderator is deferred :(

Edit: Actually I think moderation powers are determined in sort of a BCS-style system. The moderators vote on a top 25 poster list each week. Also, the admins have their own poll too. Their polls are weighted with a group of other rating systems, including quality post points, humerous point posts, etc. Finally, the number of times a poster is warned either in a thread or via PM for pushing the line of offensiveness is added to their overall score. The persons with the lowest score when an extra moderator is needed have a faceoff in a hidden forum where they must argue a Cub related topic the best. After a two week period to argue, the thread is closed and a new moderator is determined.

Wow. All I had to do is finish in the top 12 and I got an at large berth.

It pays to travel well. You know you have to share that BCS money with the rest of the "sick and tired of ESPN.com" conference.

The "sick and tired of Cubs.com" conference is really the stronger conference though. :P

weaker conferences such as "i just found this place when i was bored and googling stuff about the cubs" should still have an automatic bid.

Well, I'm not that mean. Or maybe I just don't have "Wealth of nations" at home.
