I think manny's clubhouse problems or whatever are vastly overblown by the boston media. The boston media is friekin harsh (look at what they did to nomar).

Even if he is a prick. I dont care. Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth didnt talk to each other for five frickin years and they survived.

Probably and didn't the Boston media say the same thing about Nomar and running out ground balls? These guys (Boston press) have a worse case of ADD then any kid I've ever met.

I think they did. I cant be sure. I remember some calling him a clubhouse cancer and demanding a trade and such, though.

Manny isn't going anywhere. The BoSox couldn't get the same impact value in return. Disgruntled or not, the guy is still producing. If the Sox don't want him, they can place him on waivers him again at the end of the season and see if anyone bites. He is too big of an influence on that offense to let him go.

I pretty much agree with you there. I really dont think he is going anywhere. But, If boston would be stupid enough to do it, I'd be all over it REAL fast, if i were hendry.

Imagine, we're a few games out with a pitching lineup like

Hariston

Walker

Garciaparra

Lee

Manny

A-Ram

Burnitz

Barrett

Thats a World Series lineup, and we can still have Prior, Zam, and Maddux for a formidable short series punch.

I wonder what Manny means by "wanting more privacy?"

The Boston media can indeed be absolutely viscious in it's criticisms, but I don't get the feeling that Manny really pays much attention to reading, watching or listening to sportsnews.

I wonder if it's more along the lines of his family maybe hearing alot of those things or maybe his friends telling him what's being said etc...

Hard to say - I still think Manny is not really a team player, but even the folks in Boston generally believe that the good things Manny provides for the team outweigh the bad things - the problem is, when you factor in the ~$20 mil per year into the equation, they aren't sure it's REALLY worth it anymore.

This just in from the Red Sox brass.........

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-redsox-ramirez&prov=ap&type=lgns

Give em Rusch, maybe Mitre, include Corey, and a prospect.

The Red Sox need pitching, and an OF, I'm considering giving them Murton too.

I would be willing to give up anyone in the system to get Manny.

No joke. Anyone. Pie? Done. Hill? Gone. Harvey? Bye.

If our window is now, Manny is worth it. His offensive production dwarfs any other possible OF pickup.

I doubt we'd be able to give the Sox anything on our own, but maybe there's a 3rd or even 4th team we could get involved with...

Could you imagine

Hairston

Nomar

Lee

M. Ramirez

A. Ramirez

Burnitz

Walker

Barrett

OK, I'm going to go do something else in order to stop thinking about the impossible pipe dream.

Ok this is really really small chance of being true. Basically, in the thread posting of Despio along with each game, some guy posted this

My sources in the boston area are telling me something’s about to happen between old trade deadline pals, the cubs and the bosox. the bosox are sending manny ramirez to the cubs for sergio mitre, glendon rusch, corey patterson and todd hollandsworth. Also the bosox agree to pay 50% of manny’s contract (57 mill for 3 years). That gives the cubs a Lf for 3 years at 9.5 mill per year.

The bosox are loking for middle relief and are thin in OF, that’s why this trade will happen. They don’t want to send Millar to the OF again.

Hell it might even be a joke. Probably is. But having said that, I'd make that deal in a heartbeat. Only reservation would be Glendon Rusch. He's probably our most versitile pitcher.

if it's true that boston would actually consider trading manny (which sounds like it's the case), then the cubs would be extremely foolish to not explore bringing him to chicago.

No kidding.

There is only one person in the system I might not give up. Thats Pie. But if i explored every other avenue and they want pie, then sorry pie, but your gone.

Lets see, how did IMB put it a while back....

"I'd do it and touch myself while doing so"

Seriously, that is obviously a joke. And if its not......then.....well, that'd be kick ass. But. Its a joke. so oh well.

To be honest, the person that posted it was named "Sanjay" And since I haven't seen Hoops posting anything here, it leads me to believe some moran is mocking Hoops on Desipio.

It didn't seem too far-fetched or jokingly put. I mean, it is four players for one. But yeah, I don't know anything about that guy or who he's poking fun at.

It's someone pretending to be Hoops. It's a hoax.

Ok. Thanks.

Could ne1 see a 3 way deal between florida, boston, and us in involving burnett?

Hmmm, I'm going to have to come up with a 3 way Manny deal.

Not to throw gasoline on the fire, but...

http://www.rotoworld.com/includes/topblurbs.asp?sport=MLB

Look down for Manny's news, he IS on the block and the Sox do want to trade him...

To be honest, it would not surprise me to see a trade with the Cubs that revolves around Corey Patterson. With Damon very likely gone next year, there's Boston's replacement.

The plot thickens.... rumors go around that Hendry is after Soriano.... Boston has been looking to upgrade 2B (and getting Tony G ain't the biggest upgrade)..... Manny asks to be traded, but Boston would need to try and replace his production..... the Cubs have no apparent need for Soriano @2B nor would he readily accept a move to another position..... but he would go a ways toward making up for Boston's lost production if Manny is dealt..... the Cubs need an offensive upgrade at LF....

The intrigue.... the twists.... the last minute wheeling and dealing.... is there any better time of the year than the last few days before the July 31st trade deadline?

I love it.
