This team is a joke. Where's Ken Williams when you need him?

Please tell me this is sarcasm.

Um, no. This team has underachieved all season, and by clinging to the hope that the Cubs are only 4.5 games out of the WC, we're giving up the opportunity to trade retreads like Remlinger, Blanco, Garciaparra, Walker, and Burnitz to a real contender, and rebuild our farm system.

Mark it down. This team is not going to the postseason. And wishing like hell for it to happen won't make it so.

T-storms are about to roll through northern Cook and southern Lake, but they should miss Wrigley. Edited by Jon

I wish the fan had kept the ball. Throwing balls back is one of the stupidest traditions in baseball.

Not at Wrigley it isn't. Not at most ball parks in fact.

I don't care where it is. If a fan wants to keep a homerun ball the other fans shouldn't try to pressure or threaten him to throw it back.

Then dont go to Wrigley. Every place has its traditions and pressures.

Just because it has gone on for a long time doesn't make it acceptable behavior.

who cares what other people in Wrigley say/think? if you want the ball, keep it. if you want to throw it back in the spirit of Wrigley, go for it. that man made the decision...he certainly looks old enough to be accountable for his own actions/emotions.

Well said, puppet.

I'm obviously kidding.

define tradition. I don't think the Bleacher Bums have been doing that more than 10-12 years now.

They probably haven't been drinking heavily in the outfield for more than the last few years either.

not sure what you are saying. are you saying I'm wrong, because I'm not. drinking heavily is a Wrigley tradition that goes back several decades. throwing the ball back is maybe a decade old.

You also got next week's powerball numbers, out of curiosity?

Burnitz is not a retread, Walker is one of the best 2B in the league this year, and our farm system is in the elite class in the game.

However, what in the world does Ken Williams have to do with that?

Oh please. You aren't going to rebuild the farm system by trading Remlinger, Blanco, Nomar or Burnitz. There is not a player there that will net anything more than garbage.

With Walker you have a player that signed for next year and is very productive for his position. Why get rid of him?

And does the farm system really need "rebuilding"? I mean we already have several young players glued to the bench that could be outproducing the current starters. The problem isn't the farm system it is the manager.

Yeah, but it's not like you don't know what you're getting into when you go sit out there. If you don't want to sit around people who drink a little more than the average fan and don't want to get heckled for not throwing an opponent's home run ball back, sit somewhere else. There are plenty of other seats where you won't have to deal with that. It's like going for a stroll in East St. Louis at 2 a.m. and then complaining after you get beat up and mugged.

Ooo, Jose Valentin. I forgot about that one.

Raffy gets big bonus points for having his while starring in the Viagra commercials, as well.
