A truly burning question, in 100 degree heat, what brand of eye shadow will Edmunds opt for tonight?

I'm thinking he'll go with a softer shade than usual.

The real question is, will he go with waterproof eyeliner so it doesn't come off when he sweats?

This is the second game in a row I'll miss. Yesterday it was my sister's birthday, today I'm working the Tony Hawk Boom Boom HuckJam show at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Sometimes, $$$ > Cubs unfortunately.

I worked at the BJC for a summer. Concessions. It was ok. really depended on the show.

Clapton, for instance, was really mellow. The people were generally well-behaved. or drunk.

The Gaither Vocal Band, on the other hand, had some of the nastiest people I've ever encountered. Our soda machine ran out of flavor syrup for Diet Pepsi during the midshow break and i had people screaming and swearing at me like you wouldn't believe. I guess going to a religious gospel show'll get you riled up.

I'm not trying to get OT and get a discussion away from the Game Thread. Just pointing out that I'm "religious people" and just because a group of people were rude doesn't mean that all "religious people" are bad. I know what you meant, just sayin'.

How can Dusty keep batting Aramis 5th?

I swear to god, Dusty operates on another logical plane from the rest of the planet. You have to be completely insulated to consistently ignore logic and trends the way this man does.

So the Holla-Perez-Blanco does happen #-o

That's got to be the worst 6-7-8 combo of any team still in the hunt for the playoffs.

I wish Jon Miller had the beans to engage in this discussion:

Joe - Pujols is the mvp because his teams is winning.

Jon - last year the Cardinals won alot of ball games, but you thought Barry Bonds was mvp over Albert Pujols

Joe - of course I did. he had the best numbers. and his team was winning.

Jon - yes he did, and the Giants were winning, but fell short of the playoffs by a couple of games.

Joe - yes, Barry put them on his back, but they fell just short.

Jon - now this year, Derrick Lee has the best numbers, but you think Pujols is mvp.

Joe - yes because its all about winning, and Albert's team wins.

Jon - so what if the Cubs make the playoffs or fall just a game or two short? who's your mvp then?

Joe - its still Pujols because he does the little things to help you win too

Jon - LEE WITH A DIVING PLAY TO HIS LEFT, THROW TO SECOND, THERE'S ONE, RELAY TO FIRST, SCOOPED OUT OF THE DIRT - DOUBLE PLAY!!! AN INCREDIBLE DEFENSIVE PLAY ON BOTH ENDS BY YOUR TRIPLE CROWN CANDIDATE!!!

...we'll get back to this next inning Joe. Cardinals strand one, we go to the ninth with the Cubs still leading 3-1 behind that man's two run double.

LOL, this reminds me of yesterday's game; while McCarver was attempting to make a case for Lee not being the MVP (regardless of his Triple Crown numbers thus far), Derrek hit a 2 run homer to put the Cubs ahead...

Nope. You just have to be entirely sure that you're right in the face of mountains of statistical evidence proving otherwise because you've "been there" and "have hunches."

See: Joe Morgan.

In other news, I just heard on WGN Radio that Rcih Hill will be making the start tomorrow for Wood.

I think Hill will do well against the Giants. The only dangerous hitter in that lineup is Alou, and as long as you don't leave a fastball over the middle of the plate to him, you'll be alright.

anyone see this craptacular garbage by miklasz. do the cards really want to say they have had to deal with injuries like the cubs?

idiot

"Maybe Sunday night on ESPN, the Cardinals should take their at-bats against Mark Prior while wearing blindfolds. Maybe the Cardinals' righthanded pitchers should throw lefthanded and vice versa. Perhaps the Cardinals should call up some AA players. Make it a fair fight."
