I'm reading the new Vineline while watching the game...

In the Q&A with Dusty Baker, Dustrag had this to say...

"He (Neifi) was pretty close to meaning as much to us as DLee has meant to us, offensively and defensively."

Wow.

I really really really hope he was just talking about April.

He'd better not be talking about my wife..... I'll kill him !!!!!

Williams can barely walk off the field. Watch Dusty send him out there for another inning.

Okay, so the guy you have been calling to be taken out of the game for a while now, just goes 1-2-3 and all you have to say is that?

How about, "Way to go, Jerome! I didn't think you had it in ya!"

I'm extremely happy that Jerome did well that inning. I'm just a little worried about him since he looked like he could barely walk back to the dugout after the inning.

Who wants to start the Fred for Parole BandWGN?

what a bad move by Dusty to have a pitcher stay in for a quality start

Thanks for reminding me. I forgot that one of JW's runs is unearned. Very nice outing by him. The defense behind him was suspect.

For those saying it was a bad idea for Dusty to keep Williams in there I disagree. While he was losing it the bullpen has already worked a ton of innings and we are in the midst of a long stretch of games. Squeeze 1 more if you can and keep Wuertz ready.

the complaining came when no one was warming up and williams looked gases several innings ago. dusty got away with it b/c of our offense.

Cool. Thanks for your response.

And it looks like Dusty finally heard you.

He has a few days to recover. It's just extremely hot.

The way he looked out there in the 5th and 6th, he should have been taken out. Dusty let him in an inning too long his last ime out, and he paid for it.

I disagree. If you recall, JW had nne days off before that previous start. He still trying to get in shape. they want him to lose a few more pounds. i think he'll be fine and he definitely pitched well enough to win.

Also WIlliams is from Hawaii, we all know he is used to the humidity.

The man looked like was going to pass out on the mound. I don't care if he is from Hawaii or got a 1-2-3 inning. If he had gone out there in the sixth and got hammered, everyone who is defended the decision to send him back out would be slamming it. Dusty left Williams out too long last time, and he got knocked around. Saving the bullpen is nice, but at this point in the season doing it at the expense of a win is not acceptable.

Sure he got a 1-2-3 inning, but I doubt too many would have predicted that.
