I appreciate people who actually pronounce names correctly. Think if you were forced to say your name completely wrong just because you live in a certain place. I feel a small tinge of guilt every time I say "Los Angeles."

But don't worry. *nobody* says Japanese players' names correctly, so at least there's something out there for you to enjoy mispronouncing.

I like Bruce's article too but I'm going to go against the grain here because I do not like Jon Miller (much less Joe Morgan). I've lost a lot of respect for Miller because he seems to defer to Morgan's "expertise" too much for my taste. Plus, the only reason he is on that network is because of his connection as the voice of the Giants and obvious link to Bonds.

To be fair, isn't the job of Miller to call the action, and then defer to the color guy (usually a former pro ballplayer) for his analysis of the play?

Yes, of course but there are many times when Miller will not defend his position and other times when he allows Morgan's dominant personality to dictate points in the game. Honestly, I wonder if research is done for some of their games because I have been able to point out a few errors in the "analysis."

You mean, Wrigley's grass isn't tropical? And playing there isn't like playing in the weeds (whatever that means)?

Yeah, didn't Harry had trouble pronouncing some tough names awhile back? I remember him having a hard time pronouncing Hector's last name, along with several other Latin players as well.
Seems to me that he had trouble pronouncing EASY names at times. :D

Heh, that's what I thought as well.

This made me laugh because it reminded me of Les Nessman in WKRP in Cincinnati pronouncing Chi Chi Rodriguez's name. Probably no one else remembers that, but oh well.

Who can forget the immortal CH-EYE CH-EYE ROD-REG-WEEZE? :D

Yeah, my show is on WNSP in the afternoon.

I enjoy the show on the ride home from work...You've had a journalist that lives in Chicago on the show briefly before as I recall, but it definitely wasn't Bruce...Jeff Vorva from the Daily Southtown or am I way off? Anyway, I certainly agree that Bruce would be a tremendous guest, and it's great to see you posting on NSBB.

BTW, for those that aren't aware....Jim Hendry is a Spring Hill College alum, a Roman Catholic Jesuit college in Mobile. I've heard Jim do brief interviews for SpanishFortCub's radio station on several occassions.

That's what I do, when talking to people of the non-mother country. It's just easier that way.

I really don't care one bit when people mispronounce my name. What's funny is that people always apologize for mispronouncing it. But if I got upset every time someone messed up my name I'd be one angry foreign-named dude.

How hard is it to pronounce "ZZ Thorn"?
