We knew the Reds were going to score some runs today but, what really burns me is the Cubs being shutout for 5 innings by the crap the Reds keep trotting out there.

Apparently the Cubs thought today was a 5 inning game, because the pitching stopped at that point too.

At least we have macias and neifi in to help with any comebacks.

Holly needs to come in to replace Murton and we'll have the old and crappy trifecta.

Does Ronny C get to that ball?
No. He doesn't have the experience.

you can't be serious. neifi took a horrible line to that ball. at the very least that should have been knocked down.

way to bring in dempster when it was too late, dusty. :x

Neifi was just unlucky.

LOL (you were being sarcastic, right?)

Of course.

I'd like to see how Cubs propaganda machine Carrie Muskat manages to put a positive spin on this one.

Dusty is an idiot, plain and simple.

If Hendry/MacPhail had guts, they'd fire Baker.

Because its just one game and I refuse to act the the season is over. We knew our bullpen was bad before the game started the only difference today (and yesterday) is that the starter left early.

One game?!!?! You think this is the only time this had happened? Have you even watched the Cubs this year? Its the same thing over and over again.

Its OK to be optimisitc, but to be so naive and think we are magically going to solve all of our massive holes is silly and then come on the board and criticize people for being negative is wrong. Yes, I realize that you didnt directly criticize anyone, but it was definately intended.

I am neither overly optimistic nor naive just not ready to jump off a bridge. The key to this team is its starting pitching. When they dont go deep we have a tough time winning. You can only know that by watching all of the games.

The biggest difference between the Cubs and Cards is not talent, it execution. They make all the routine plays, their pitchers throw strikes and unless forced to, their manager doesn't play lineup roulette.

Huh ?

That can't be right.

Anyway, it's 10PM here.

This Cubs fan needs a couple of beers to feel better.

That's the type of game the good teams put away.

Our relief pitchers went 3 innings and gave up 6 runs.

The last place Reds' relief pitching went 5 innings and gave up 1 run.

Anyone think we can capture the wild card with those kind of performances?

yeah right he had all offseason to fix the bullpen, that worked out well didn't it? He will do like he always does and wait until the deadline. Again it will be too late.

How was he too late in 2003? He didn't even wait until the deadline.

And in 2004 it was too late? I'm sorry, but we lost because of what happened in the last 10 days (or so). Not because Hendry waited 10 days (??) too long to make a trade.

There's nothing to be optimistic about. When we lost 2 in a row to the Reds after just 2 weeks ago we have lost 8 in a row I would say that were are proper @(*#&. We have a bad manager and a crappy bullpen. What else do you need to know? Man of 2nd and 3rd nobody out yet we couldnt even get another run in? You bring in Novoa again after that stressfull inning? No way we win the wildcard. Look at how the Astros and Braves have been playing. No chance man.

Why even make the playoffs with a crappy bullpen? Your starters don't have enough in them to run the table.

The bullpen is a must fix if we ever want to do anything in the playoffs, much less make the playoffs. A manager that knows how to use the pen would be nice too.

We need relief help by the trading deadline. Not Dunn. A good bullpen would have saved the game.

The Reds are a bad team b/c of their pitching, not their offense, which is one of the best offenses the Cubs will face this year.

We agree on that at least.
