Sounds like he has had a problem with his knee and b/c he is upset about something he is going to have surgery on it and miss the rest of the season even though he could continue to play with it. Frank Robinson said he doesn't know what the problem is and would not discuss it until after he speaks w/ Livan.

I am guessing this will blow over but it would really help our WC chances if Livan goes thru with the surgery.

What in the crap is he talking about? I haven't seen a baseball player make that little sense since the last Carl Everett interview I read.

i don't understand it either. sounds like he could play through it, but hes pissed off about something the Nationals may have done to him, so he's pretty much sticking it to them. At least thats what i'm getting from this. This pretty much gives the Braves that division and us a much better shot at the WC.

Can he legally force himself to have surgury without the team's consent? Isn't that a violation of his contract? He's basically opting not to pitch.

this is so crazy!

he said something along the lines of "i havent been happy in three years, but i'm not going to talk about it until the season is over" as well.

Know why he got hurt? Because Dusty made him throw a lot of pitches in San Francisco. True story.

my sides are literally splitting

Frank isn't any better than Dusty in that regard, maybe worse.

And winner of Livan's most pitches per appearance, drum roll please....1998 on the Marlins, followed closely by 1999 for the half season he was on the Marlins. Actually Dusty used him the least!

That has a lot to do with how bad he was in san fran. He only had one season there with an ERA+ above 100. The other two years, his ERA+ was 77 and 87.

Actually I take this back, because he did throw a ton of innings, even when he was awful.

Yeah regardless of how well he pitched he always through a ton of innings a ton of pitches per inning, made nearly every start going deep into games. He has been a bullpen saver to say the least. Its unbelievable taht hes stayed healthy so far and now its not even a shoulder or elbow issue.

If Hernandez opts for knee surgery, Washington might plummet. Atlanta gets the division and we get the WC. I could live with that scenario.

Washington was going to slide anyway. If they lose Hernandez for the year, they're pretty much done for.

I can't remember where I read it this morning, but apparently it might have something to do with Wil Cordero. I guess he was Livan's good friend or something.
