Hey, is anyone listening to ESPN 1640 in State College, Pennsylvania? They're reporting that the Reds have traded Dunn to the Cubs for Corey Patterson, Mike Harkey and a peanut butter & jelly sandwich!

Ugh. I started reading the first part of his post and got pumped. Damn you.

Wow I can't belive se was banned for posting a rumor . Maybe he does have a source in Cincy and the deal fell through it happens all the time. I really think some back pedaling needs to be done fast. The rumor he did post did have some legs. Bruce Levine should never be allowed to join this board otherwise more than likely after his first post in the transacation forum he would be banned.

Where in the Admin/Mod explanation (earlier in the thread) did it say that he was banned for posting a rumor?

Unless I missed a post the explanation was that he's a troll but they can't tell us why? Sure his post looked fishy but the rumor he heard from his source was pretty much on considering Reds Announcers picked it up in Cinci. If he was trolling he would have pulled it out it of thin air. I noticed a lot of rolling of the eyes of because he has a source , not to call out Hoops but he has some sources and is well respected on the board. Didn't Vance have a source in Houston. To say SE wasn't banned for posting a rumor only hours after posting it seems a little bit of a stretch.

Will it be necessary to clear it through you from this day forward each time we decide someone needs to be banned from this community? I didn't think so. People get banned for many reasons, but the overall intent of removing someone is to protect this community from people who do not have the best of intentions in mind.

Honestly, what's with dragging this out? The decision has been made and none of us feel it is necessary to explain ourselves. If you want to get technical, he clearly stated in his very first post that if he was wrong, to go ahead and ban him. We did.

The discussion is still here if you wish to discuss a potential trade of Adam Dunn. But, the discussion of why this guy was banned is no longer up for discussion. Period.

You had me at Corey but I started to laugh at Harkey---I haven't seen that name in quite some time...

I bet Rocket Sauce knows the writer for the Dayton Daily News I referred to - Reds announcer "the Old Lefthander" Joe Nuxhall called him an HOFer, pretty sure his name is Hal McCoy. I don't doubt the legitmacy of the rumor.

.

Replying now because I'm just now reading through this garbage of a thread.

McCoy is awesome, and apparently lives near my house, though I've never seen him.

Since this thread has already talked about everything anyways:

I am being trained to be a stocker (since two of them are leaving) and today was my first training day. I was already trained on register last week. It is increadably simple and it is much less annoying then packing.

Anyways, back to stocking. It was easy as all hell. I just pulled a couple things and put them on shelves. then walked around and talked to one of my co-workers the rest of the night. Ahh....slacking.

Why oh why couldn't one of your patented spelling errors have been "stocker" = "stalker"? Your post would have been so much better.

Haha. Ya know, the other day I was on register, and on the screen that shows to the customer there is the casheirs name up in the right hand corner. Well, for mine, since i only do register when neccesary, i just put in the "stockers" till. SO it said stocker by the name. You have no idea how many people tried to make that same crack.

Haha, you're right, it would've been classic.

I read the first part and got really excited. Bastard.

Yeah, because when Chicago and Cincinnati news breaks, the first place you'll hear it is on the radio in State College, PA.

By the way, that same radio station is reporting that the peanut butter in the aforementioned sandwich was not crunchy-style, and the Jelly is generic store-brand rather than Smuckers. Since this information came to light, the Reds have since backed out of the deal.

The reason the Reds backed out is that they couldn't agree on the brand of peanut butter. The Reds insisted on Peter Pan, but the Cubs were only willing to use Jif. :D

Have you tasted the respective peanut butters? have you tried Peter Pan Extra Chunky? If so, then you know why the Reds were not willing to make this deal.

I was just about to relax and forget about trade rumors until I saw this.

what does it say? registration required

A poster (with 1 post) said that he heard on the radio Dunn for Mitre, Welley & Nollasco. Than another poster (with 1 post) said he heard the same report. very fishy.

I think the moral of this story is that you should never trust rumors posted to internet message boards.
