Cubs real close to getting Dunn (Shot down by Bruce Miles)

I'm taking Bruce at his word, I'm not calling him a liar, I just think he may be wrong. Bruce is a fine journalist, but McCoy has been around longer and went on air about it. If I hadn't heard McCoy discuss the trade I wouldn't be stopping my bass practice to make this post.

 

It seems unlikely that he would go on the air about it if there wasn't validity to it - if an offer hadn't been made.

 

Lemme tell ya Nil - don't sleep on KFC's BBQ sandwich. Cheap, filling and a darn good sauce. Is it really chicken? That's up for grabs, but it tastes real good.

 

hehe, since when did bbq need chicken? Fried breading and sweet baby rays is all i need to live. KFC is good, for some reason im a freek and dont eat meat off a bone so I appreciate their ingenuity in creating multiple boneless entrees, all delectible in their own way.

I thought this whole thing was totally bogus until I heard them talk about it on the Reds broadcast. Why that's not lending enough credibility to the rumor is beyond me. I bet it comes out in the wash tomorrow, i.e. it gets picked up by the papers, espn. You can't say this stuff on the air and have it be ignored by the major baseball media outlets - this is news!

??? Tenuous? Hardly. The head Reds beat writer, who is in the HOF no less (this is no Paul Sullivan) for the biggest paper in Dayton makes a special trip to go on the air, and thus on the record, about a possible trade, or in this case a trade that fell thru, and that's not good enough?

 

I wasn't there Geech, but neither was Bruce Miles. Hal McCoy likely was. I'll go with Hal.

 

I'd go as far to wager that Bruce is as close to knowing what went on as McCoy was. I think Miles is as close to Hendry as any of the beat writers.

 

Why do you think McCoy was "there" (wherever there is) and Miles wasn't?

 

As I said McCoy said someone, I didn't catch who, if you go back in the thread another poster heard the same thing, said a part of the deal was considered to be too steep by one of the parties. On air.

 

I know Miles posts here but McCoy is in the friggin HOF. Bruce Miles would admit he's a stronger source than himself. I'd bet McCoy knows the grandkids of the Reds owners and has been to Marge Schott's vacation home. He's been covering the Reds for 30+ years.... You can't get much more reputable as journalist than that....

Hendry is the one who said it was too steep on the Reds broadcast, but he never acknowledged a deal was offered or in place. Brenamen asked him about the rumor and Hendry said that price was too steep, even for a player of Dunn's caliber. No one acknowledged a deal was in place or offered.

 

McCoy likely was repeating that info.

 

I still stand by the facts as stated by Miles. If a deal of this magnitude were about to happen or even offered, I'm sure Bruce would know.

I'm not going to go on and on about this. My whole point in relaying what I heard was to help show there is some credence to this rumor. It's not a totally unfounded rumor - to me that was news. I thought it was totally bogus.

It's not like the majority of the 10k posts were informative to begin with considering most posts are racked up talking about who got a hit or who didnt in a game thread. Smells too much like Elitism to me and it stinks! I hate to say that, considering I've been on this site since it's inception and use it as a bible for info practiacally. Im pretty sure that these mods wouldnt ban him without reason. Im sure he made a post somewhere that outed himself, and it was deleted, and he was shoewhipped.

I feel the same as satx but have come ot accept it as not being a mod. It is what it is, I'd love to know as from what we observed he didnt deserve it, but I completely trust them to make the appropriate decisions in these matters.

We found evidence outside his posting history that confirmed our original suspicions that he was a troll. It seems pretty obvious to me in hindsight. How many mystery sources turn out to be true? And then his second update gave people exactly what they wanted to hear.
